What tattoos?
Clearly I don't actually need to have any to have the effect.
Though I do want one big statement
piece eventually "

I have one that is technically two separate ones.
I got the first just after turning 50 to remind me of life changing and life affirming events that took place around that time.
I added to it a couple of years later as part of my ongoing journey.
I plan on finishing it at some stage. |

I'm currently a plain canvas but I have considered getting a tattoo at different moments throughout my life. |

You don’t need any but they would really suit you. |

I am beautifully unadorned. I’ve never wanted a tattoo but I believe part of that is never having had anything in my life I wanted permanently etched on my skin. No passions, allegiances, beliefs etc.
I would quite like one but not sure whether to take the plunge. And I imagine a sports team logo is a bit cheesy…. |

"I have a full back piece and half sleeve that I love… but one on my front that I started having lasered back because it’s crap. It’ll be recovered at some point when I get inspired. "

Ms. Saffwrøng, promise me that you haven't lasered away my tattoo (Property Of A Gentleman, 2019) from your left derrière cheek?
Also, what became of the one on your right cheek (Maid In Taiwan)? |

I’ve actually wanted a tattoo for years. Even spent ages designing & redesigning my very own.
But then something happened...
Tattoos became mainstream
Being extensively tattooed used to mean you were part of a gang, alternative lifestyle or subculture.
Now? You’re basic

The wife got her first tattoo last year for her 50th. Located under her forearm, she felt off-balance, leading her to getting another in the same place on the opposite arm.
Both are really cool/funny tattoos, and always get chuckles from those who see them.
As per her orders, they are always removed on FAB photos - we live on the Isle of Wight, and it pays not to advertise... |

I don't have any. Don't want one either. I never did like that horrible burred blue outlines, that old tats have.
I will say this though, I do remember watching, in junior school a telly presenter called Toni Arthur getting an ever so dainty daisy/flower on her wrists, near the watch buckle zone.
I thought that this was a cool thing to watch in school (never let a good pun go to waste).
Can you imagine that now, even though not being inked is a sign of being a rebel and not copying anyone else?

I have 9. Seven of them are kind of merging now as they cover the top of my back, my left shoulder and down my arm. All but one of them mark an event or milestone in my life - something I achieved or survived, and all were designed for me by the most amazing artist.
I love the fact that the unique artwork I've had commissioned and invested in over the years lives with me and on me, and doesn't just sit on the wall to only ever get a passing glance. |

Love them on others... I got a hideous piece of flash done at 16. Tattooist wasn't great anyways, combined with being stoned at the time... Major life regret!
What cost me £25, is still unresolved after many years, and £200 on laser (bloody painful!) treatment... I only have the one tattoo... My child who is a clear dumbass has many she now hates |
