I often find myself wanting to read more books and I have plenty to read that would benefit me greatly but I just can’t find myself able to switch my mind off and get emerged, there’s always something distracting me or needing my attention. Any recommendations for finding a genuine escape in a book? Much love and many thanks |

There's quite a lot that's been written about how the digital environment has changed our concentration spans, and we need to retrain ourselves to concentrate like we used to.
Try no digital after dinner or something like that |

Ah! As a self-proclaimed book lover (I’m a writer and poet and read 100 books in 2022 and 75 in 2023) I hope my recommendations find you well
The Secret History - Donna Tartt
It’s a long read but it’s worth it - it’s dark academia so you can definitely get stuck in the plot and I love that
The Diary of a Nobody
A Victorian novel / comic that is funny as HELL every time I read it I burst out laughing it’s so funny even nowadays
Post Office - Charles Bukowski
An easy read from my favourite poet of all time. Love love love his style and he’s very easy to get into.
Orlando - Virginia Woolf
A classic that never stops giving. It’s an incredible read. |

I have struggled to sit and read for years but started back with really short books, that could be done in one sitting and then bigger books full of shorter stories so I could just keep going if I was into it. Im back reading massive great chunky ones again now, so my tip is just pick up something short to begin. |
