If that's true, I'm amazed they announced it even before the 24 season has started.

Must also mean Hamilton thinks the 24 Mercedes will be another failure

So not retiring, yet? Or is it a strategic move before he's done with racing?

"Italian and Spanish news outlets report that Mercedes will announce on Thursday, that Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari for the 2025 season, replacing Carlos Sainz. "

It looks like it might be some sort of swop deal…

Or… since saint came through the red bull junior program….. Sainz to replace Sergio Perez at red bull would make sense

So then the question becomes who becomes no.2 at Mercedes?

Apparently Sainz is off to Sauber and will be the lead driver in the new Audi team. I dont think Sainz will settle for been a no2 any more so rules Red Bull out.

I also wouldn't rule out Alonso, gives them an old head and the young hunger.

Likely leaked and confirmed by anonymous sources and Mercedes are now trying to do damage limitation.

"So not retiring, yet? Or is it a strategic move before he's done with racing?"

He was rather shrewd in his transfer from Mclaren to Mercedes wasn't he? Maybe he predicts good things to enable him to become an 8 time world champ.

I can't imagine sentiment and boyhood dreams are enough to move him but I could be wrong.

Who knows. I don't think it'll be Lando or Stroll. Maybe Ricciardo??

I reckon you're onto something there. I haven't kept up to speed (sorry) with the testing programme, but the Mercedes drivers knew immediately the last two seasons' cars were pigs. Maybe he's had enough.

Ferrari is such an iconic name in F1.

I don’t think he is in Mercedes plans so why not race for your childhood favourite team and milk the cash cow one last time

I may be wrong, but I think there's money involved.

It won’t be lando.. he sign an extension on to of his extended contract a few weeks ago…

So if sainz is off to Audi.. then we are looking at one red bull seat and one Mercedes seat…

In which case I still think Perez doesn’t survive at red bull… Danny ric at red bull… Albon to be Russell’s no.2 at Mercedes?

Stroll ain’t leaving daddy behind… and he’s not really good enough to jump into another team’s seat

Danny Ric not a bad shout, especially if he get's told he can't have the RBR seat alongside Max in 25.

No, 2026 is when you'll see the big changes and when RB will have their own engine

Can understand why, both he and team desperately want another championship. However I'm not sure either are up to it. Think the team need more of a shake up too
