I can get if people don't share the exact birthday. Lying about age? Don't see the point. You are going to look attractive or not to people. They'll go for us or they won't. We are the age we say but if we lie a few years, no difference, still well be seen as late 40s early 50s. If we lie massively, it is not credible and we will be seen as people who are not confident with who they are, or as lying.
We want people who like us the way we are. So better to be honest. We are the age we declared. |

I’m not surprised there are one or 2 that have put a different age. But I do wonder ‘why’? I mean, I know some reasons to do it. (A void filters maybe) but personally I don’t see the point and what it achieves in the long run.

Usually younger.
Around 30/40 years ago older people, women in particular, were socially disregarded as being sexually active or desirable above 40, so around the age of 40 women took 5 years off, and at 50 took 10 years off (some men too, but that dynamic often favoured "adding" a few years to appear mature and successful - yet another unhelpful construct. So some men in their early 40s would put it around 50...it was part of the "male has money and status and woman has to be pretty" thing). |
