Paper Town Central, Essex.

I'd rather be stalking Tench at dawn or dusk.

Finest times of the day.

Bring back A Passion For Angling I say.

Which beach? (Very jealous!). I grew up in SA and used to guide fishing trips all over the coast from Kenya to Angola and all over the interior too! I live in Hayling Island (South East of England) the fishing isn't bad, but I miss real waves and long sandy beaches, and the wide variety of fish species we could target!

You must’ve fished the banks off the coast of Watamu then. Someone had a tidy cat up there with Castle Lager emblem on the side so most likely a SA boat. Best place in the world for broadbill swordfish!

Hayling Island

Fished the area once on the way up to the Bajuni Islands (When it was still safe to go that far North). But the only Billfish I used to Target was Sailfish (on fly) Never enjoyed hunting marlin or swordfish much.

You done the Seychelles or Madagascar?

No I’ve just done Kenya and Moz on the east coast, good GT and wahoo, dorado etc as well as the billfish. SA east coast right down to the cape for yellowtail, geelbek, bronzies, snoek….huge variety that side as well.

Mozambique was good at times. I lived near Inhambane for a couple of years and travelled right up as far as Quissenge. But even then the northern provinces were a bit dicy. Grew up fishing the Natal coast, Wild coast, West Coast, Namibia and Eastern Cape.

I try to put it out of my mind when I'm fishing for Whiting in Sub Zero weather
