Hey guys here’s a life hack for you xxx
If you are nice to retail staff things are a lot easier and better xx
Have a problem? That’s okay if you are kind and calmly explain the problem I’m sure it’ll get sorted quickly xxx
All huffy and rude? Now I’m double charging you lol xxx (that’s a joke for legal reasons)
But seriously huns, it costs nothing to be nice to retail staff! The amount of hatred I’ve had thrown in my face just because of something I don’t control is crazy. Retail has broken my spirit and my mental health has suffered
Also, this is your reminder that if you hate self-service check outs and want manned tills back, you actually have to be NICE to till workers xxx |

Well said and I couldn’t agree more. I’m always super nice when trying to resolve a problem. Firm, but nice. People help out other people, not jerks. |

I'm nice to people who are nice to me. I'm even nicer to people who are horrible to me, it really upsets them.
Can I ask genuinely, how being nice to checkout workers will stop the march of self service tills? |

Me and my friends were talking about this and it’s just kinda like a lot of people are rude to check out staff and then get annoyed when self service is implemented. There’s no correlation, we just feel that if you want manned check outs, the least you can do is be nice to the people manning them lol xx
There seems to be an overlap to people who are rude to cashiers and people who hate self service. Or at least that’s what me and my friends have noticed…it’s obviously not a scientific study but yeah xxx |

Oh I understand .
I got really annoyed when they introduced self service in the home and wear section of Marks. I'd always been pleasant to the check out staff too |

The majority of people are lovely to check out staff or at least decent enough that it doesn’t cause any issues it’s just the odd few that ruin it for everyone and make working in retail hell lol…it’s especially bad at Christmas xx |

It's not just retail! It's any industry or sector where the public have to deal with agents and want something done.
Sadly, we see the same in my industry, which is all phone based conversations. There's a culture now that the customer believes they are always right (which they're not actually!), and that everything has to be rectified instantly. Sadly life doesn't actually work like that, and it can be soul destroying when you're dealing with people like this day in day out.
Thank goodness for the lovely people who are kind and gracious and actually go out of their way to put in a good word for those who've helped them and done a good job! |

This is so true, I could never work with phones and contact centres etc, it must be so frustrating xx |
