As a relatively new member and possibly nievely putting my exact true age into my profile (I'm a spritely and youthful 57 btw) I'm blown away by the number of other users who choose '55'as their cut off range.
Okay I know you literally have to draw a line somewhere but I'm wondering if I need to loose a few years to squeeze back under the high bar.??
What do other people think. Perhaps I'm best leaving it as is, no offense will be taken ?? |

Yeah.
Lots of people do lie* about their age, and it's a hard no for me for that reason - what else are they lying about?
* I don't mind "lying" for anonymity - that is, putting something that's basically true down as your birth date. I do it myself - I've made my Fab birthday less than a month wrong. But no one gives a shit if you say your birthday is January when it's February. People mind a lot more when you say you were born in 1995 when you were born in 1985. |

Some choose 35. Some 45. Some 55.
Some can't be arsed and choose 18-99.

I'm older than you are and have never once had a conversation about my age on here. Some people complain about 50 or 45 being a cut off point but I was 52 when I signed up and it has never been an issue. |

Simple really for me....if I were younger then my upper age limit would be set younger. If say I was 20ish then I wouldn't want anyone in their 50's |

The fact that people lie about their age is exactly the reason I have my upper limit where is now. Too many take years off to cheat through filters.
If you cannot be truthful about your age why would you expect anyone to meet you and think you would tell the truth about anything else. |

I’m a few weeks into being 51.
My local updates has so many that cut off at 45, 48 and 50. C’est La Vie and all that.
Can’t control other people’s preferences and nothing I can do, so not worth worrying about it and maybe if I get to more events and club things, maybe get to say hiya  |

It's due to people lying about their age that I lowered my age range. At first I was wanting to meet men 50 to 60 but ended up with men who were obviously well over 60 which is not what I wanted. After lowering my age range I discovered I actually like younger men so am now quite content. |

The other thing to remember OP is that men in most ages struggle on Fab. The sweet spot is probably 30-50, but that just means less difficult than under or over that age, it doesn't mean not difficult. |

When a site is about box ticking, boxes are easier when in put into chunks of 5. Round up or round down. I did used to like being a rebel and setting my age range to odd numbers. A 37 to 63 would have done it. |

Yes. I also cut off messages in other ways, but I discovered quickly that if I set my filters to "would consider this age under some circumstances" rather than something tighter, I drowned in messages. |

Not sure about the increments of 5 but It’s simply statistics - if you plotted the number of people who have very active sex lives and are in the lifestyle it will fit in a normal distribution bell curve - your age and women/ couples that want to meet / match those ages are unfortunately on the descending curve, simply reducing in numbers as age increases. There are obviously outliers - young women who have a thing about older men for example. There are women and men who meet at 55, 60, 65 it’s just that there are fewer of them - it’s driven by the factors that are obvious - health issues, hormones, deteriorating self image or desire, lack of libido or just cannot be bothered any more.
You’re a good looking guy and I’d suggest some beneficial changes to your profile if you were asking advice but you’re not.. and I don’t want to get in trouble with the Mods  |

Age doesn't really mean much to us. We have met guys well into their 60s who are more fun and have better stamina than guys in their 20s. They could knock the ages off profiles as far as we're concerned we go off the pictures and personalty rather than age. |

Don’t look as age being an issue - like all other preferences, some will prefer a certain age, some won’t.
Focus on what you can work on, like your profile rather than use something as an excuse for not getting the interactions you expected after 3 weeks on the site!
I haven’t looked at your profile btw, but people who tend to use something to blame, it’s usually your profile that’s what’s restricting you.

I'm extremely comfortable at not setting a large age gap and it has fuck all to do with other people's perception.
I'm not attracted to young women of a similar age to my daughters so therefore I won't waste my time chatting to them and that's why my lower age limit will always change every year to keep in line with my age and those of my kids. |

Lying on your profile to get around people's preferences is a top tier dick move imo. But you have got me wondering what else on your profile could be abit of a truth stretch.
There will be loads of people here who welcome your age group.
Most of the cut offs are just because you have to choose something or you end up with ages you wouldn't consider. Ours is set at 45, we'd consider upto 55 but we choose the 45-55 ourselves and message them first. |

Have you checked how old the people are who are calling their range at 55?
I’m 47. I started 10 years either side but had lots of messages from people who looked older than my dad. Thought 5 years each side was a bit slim so settled on 7 below and 8 above. That’s my reasoning and I move my age range as I get older. Many people have said they don’t so may also be that. |

I don't lie about my age I'm more than comfortable with it. Folks often think I'm younger but that's beside the point.
I guess some folks see my age and write me off but that's entirely up to them. |

Op, many of us have dropped off the age filters for different reasons.
As I get older, my younger filter shifts but my older one does too.
See who is available to you and cherish them.
Filters are a way to start online.
When meeting people in the flesh at clubs or at socials, you may find things are different.
We get older.
People have their reasons and preferences.
Flow with it. I hope you found some wisdom in the thread to encourage you. |

I think there's some truth in this. I set my work alarm for 630, never 629 or 631. When I stay in bed after it I'll be there till 640. |
