Reports that a mother in Blackpool, which is known as the Golden Mile and is the Lancashire Version of Las Vegas, could not get a NHS dentist for her daughter and so removed her daughter's teeth with a set of pliers. It is not known if the mum put a silver sixpence under her child's pillow but what exactly is going on here. It's all over the news

I would have thought we'd have had reports of strange verruca removals before teeth pulling as the GP's no longer treat them and send you private.

The NHS is not even good by third world standards is what is happening.

It simply handles too much

Means testing must be brought back

Oh my god. Are people pulling verrucas with their teeth now?

I don't mind a bit of accidental toejam when the clippers are hiding, but draw the line at verrucas.

I laughed at this way more than I should have. The mental imagery as I read couldn’t be stopped.

I had my third morals removed a few years ago, and felt every bit of it because I was thought topical and locally injected anaesthesia was sufficient. They suggested I have general but I refused. I cannot imagine doing this without any type of anaesthetic. Blinding!

I performed my son's verruca removal via a hitherto unrecorded technique, back in the day. The docs wouldn't help him either and it lasted for bloody years and years. Bazooka did bugger all!

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

Did two of my own about four years ago and two for a friend about twenty back. Its not actually that difficult. The risk is the root size, big hole, stopping the bleeding,or the tooth shattering and leaving root within the gum.Not really the cleverest thing you can do.

Dandy and Beano readers would already know this. What's happened to the education system in the UK?

A town near you

I've been to Blackpool. From my experience there I'm assuming the mother was high on spice or crack.

One of the grimest places I've been!

Apologies to Any one from Blackpool.

To be fair the state of NHS dentistry in this country is shocking. Waiting lists of over 2yrs, to get on a patient waiting list. I can get my cats teeth cleaned within a week...

Hopefully, it was the kid's milk teeth. There's nothing I wouldn't have done if this was my kid- I'd have sold everything I owned & gone private

I paid £90 to get my teeth 'looked at' privately in between dentists maybe 10yrs ago. And they literally looked. No scale, no Polish, she looked in my mouth and that was it... I can do that myself at home for free

£90 is a lot of heating/food for a month if you're unemployed, and that was a decade ago

I paid £70 in October 2023 for a private hygienist treatment (then claimed half back from work). I think the private prices are very variable.

We are fortunate to have an NHS dentist but the clinic is not accessible and so I paid privately because I couldn't take Mr KC back with me a second time to see the hygienist. I need his help to get into the dental clinic nowadays and we can only coordinate days off together very infrequently.
