Take one thing and put in a bag for the charity shop. Do the same tomorrow...it's a start.
Hope your appointment goes well |

How is your back now? Ginger and honey with lemon in hot water is good for the immune system |

Ooh. On the subject of glasses.....
I dropped my good pair in a canal in Brum a couple of weeks ago and the only ones I currently have to wear for screen work are ones I stupidly sat on in my car 6 months ago that are held together with tape and one lens keeps popping out..... |

Oh dear . If you have your prescription buy some on line, way cheaper and much easier. The only thing is if they hurt your ear you have to adjust them yourself. |

That is so horrible for him, I really feel for both him and you. Is it possible for both of you to approach his boss,or even the facility administering the apprenticeship. If not he should walk away and find another sparky to take him on, no apprenticeship is worth sacrificing his mental health for. |

When people have zero clue how much stuff you have to do day in day out, put up with and how tough things get sometimes all with zero help, no family around or time out.
Then when you get down or frustrated with it, people think you're miserable or negative. |

"pissed off about my daughters toxic work environment. I hate to see my family suffer.
Urgh, I hear you. My sons is an apprentice and he's being bullied and I hate that I can't fix this for him.
Does he have a college day, can he contact his assessor?"
He does, but it's really complicated. He has dyscalclia, and failed his maths GCSE twice, so technically shouldn't be on this apprenticeship. However, he is a whizz at what he's doing - HGV mechanics and last year won young mechanics of the year award - so many strings have been pulled for him to be on this apprenticeship. He's terrified of rocking the boat and being taken off the course. I picked him up last night from work and he broke down crying in the car. The last big incident was when they pinned him down and stuck a lit lighter on his wrist. It burnt him and has blistered and scarred. I'm really scared for him, but feel my hands are tied. |

Yes, it does and I have begged and pleaded with him to at least tell the college what's going on, but he won't. That is the latest in a long line of things which include 'accidentally' throwing petrol on him then dropping a match nearby etc. It's horrendous. It gets better for a bit, then starts up again. I just don't know what to do. |

I can only imagine he feels reporting it will make things worse in the long term... could you not email his tutor directly.... thus company could do with reporting to trading standards, h.s.e ... maybe have a look online and see if there's any advice...good luck I really hope things get sorted x |

Write to his college lecturer's on his behalf. And his employer. Explain why you're writing, not him.
List the events.
If nothing is done report it to the police and HSE.
Most responsible companies have very strict guidelines regarding things like this. It's possible his MD doesn't even know its happening.
Make them aware!!!!! |

He really doesn't want me involved. He fears that it'll be seen as him having to get his Mammy to save him. I've told him if there's one more incident I will report it. Its so sad because he loves what he's doing, and he's so good at it. |

Contact the college. Please. The work we used to do involved dealing with such things. Ask to speak to his assessor directly and in confidence also ask to speak to the college's safeguarding officer or whatever they're called nowadays. How he became an apprentice is no longer relevant and the lowlifes who treat apprentices like this need exposing.
I understand that he doesn't want anything done and I wish him well. |

It's a fucking major safeguarding issue.
Pouring petrol on the lad, burning his wrists? The people doing it should be sacked for gross misconduct. And I hope they are.
Good luck to the young chap, doing his best to make his way in life and working his arse off. |

Thank you. He is a good lad, I know I'm biased, but he does work his arse off for them. Doesn't help that the owners/management do know what's going on. They have spoken to the people responsible but although it changes for a bit my lads always weary and won't let his guard down.
I'll try and speak to him later and see if he'll let me speak to college. |

When you get to speak to someone, you haven’t spoken for so long, someone that you extend a lot of trust to because of a trusting friendship.
And they get to tell you about rumours and bullshit due to the Chinese whispers that have been going on behind your back.
