Got pebbled area . I've got minture boat in little on little sea with lighthouse. Two dolphins .other side got small model village .then the metal bicycle and I've tiny elephant on drifft wood. And got lots of atifical flowers .

I work for my local council and almost all my overtime comes from housing (not my dept day to day) and we do a lot of house and garden clearances, I was at one today in fact.
We often have to take a tipper van to get rid of the shit we find inside and in the garden. If it'll fit in a garden, finding it wouldn't surprise me. From household goods to dead animals (last one was an xl bully puppy, 4/5 months old, no chip (we take chip scanners, yes we find that many dead pets) there often tends to be just general waste though so grown in we have to litter pick, then strim, then litter pick everything that the strimming exposes then mow for a half ok looking finish. We don't strim if there's dog shit though which is very often
There is ALWAYS a half deflated football though and at least one shoe or trainer, oh and a piece of old washing line hiding in the grass that will whip up around our strimmer and jam it! |

"I work for my local council and almost all my overtime comes from housing (not my dept day to day) and we do a lot of house and garden clearances, I was at one today in fact.
We often have to take a tipper van to get rid of the shit we find inside and in the garden. If it'll fit in a garden, finding it wouldn't surprise me. From household goods to dead animals (last one was an xl bully puppy, 4/5 months old, no chip (we take chip scanners, yes we find that many dead pets) there often tends to be just general waste though so grown in we have to litter pick, then strim, then litter pick everything that the strimming exposes then mow for a half ok looking finish. We don't strim if there's dog shit though which is very often
There is ALWAYS a half deflated football though and at least one shoe or trainer, oh and a piece of old washing line hiding in the grass that will whip up around our strimmer and jam it!
Hoarding and people with far too many pets isn't only by those who live in council owned property..

We need more council housing. Lots of it. The housing situation is an absolute disgrace in this country. I grew up in a council house. They were built to last unlike the new build housing built today that people are paying fortunes for. Looks like the government has found a solution though. Conscription, get a million or so killed fighting for king and a country that doesn't give a shit about them. |

Yep just scanned this thread and surprised. My sister is still in a council house and has a lovely front garden. She also has three girls who grew up there, all went to university and two of which now own their own house in their 20s. The stereotyping and looking down on people is shocking. Not a sexy look. |

I pointed out that the majority no longer belonged to the Council and that there was no obligation upon the owners to do anything about the upkeep of their gardens. Nowadays many of the properties bought from the Council have simply become privately rented properties. They are of course rented out for higher rents than their Council neighbours and if the tenants claim Housing Benefit at a greater cost to you and me. In Scotland the sale of Council housing was ended years ago. I simply don't understand why it isn't done in England as well |

That’s the case with my home. The council tenants bought it and rented it out, and when it wasn’t profitable me they sold it to me. I don’t mind, it’s a solid house and a great community! Kids play in the street round here and the neighbors (most of them still council tenants) are quick to lend a hand with anything that needs doing. Wonderful place to live. Big garden too, because they were built in the 30s when council tenants were provided enough garden to grow their own food - which many people in my street still do! |

That’s the case with my home. The council tenants bought it and rented it out, and when it wasn’t profitable me they sold it to me. I don’t mind, it’s a solid house and a great community! I'm glad you like your home it's just a shame you're likely paying higher rent than your neighbours.
I worked in social housing and homelessness for thirty years. When I started you could get a Council House within a couple of weeks albeit perhaps not in the area of your choice. There was almost no rough sleepers. By the time I retired those assessed as homeless with a statutory duty to be housed were waiting over a year for a house probably not in their area of choice. Rough sleepers are sadly everywhere. The decimation of Social Housing is a very sad affair and costs us all a great deal |

I think that would be a general theme across council, rented and owned though."
That sounds accurate for me and my neighbours as our HA is notoriously slow at fixing communal boundary fencing. No front gardens here. |
