Surprising statistic about Kent
Jump to: Newest in thread
Reports that Kent, once called the bread basket of England, has the highest number of libraries per head of population. It can be argued that there is little else to do in Kent but read, and the local authority will soon be selling off libraries cutting costs and nothing without consultation blah blah blah...
This country is truly gone down the pan. Fewer Libraries, fewer buses, fewer police, fewer ambulances, fewer doctors, fewer firemen, fewer doctors, fewer nurses, fewer hospital beds, fewer public toilets, fewer bin collections, fewer pothole repairs, ...... What is going on here guys? It's all over the fews... |

Did you put fewer doctors twice as a test to see if we were reading this properly?
The UK have had the same party in government for 12 years now, so they can't blame the other guys. All those austerity measures and still it seems like public services are vastly underfunded.
Mind you, some people have made some pretty hefty bonuses at the top. Perhaps that's where the money has gone?

Everything went to plan. It was never meant to benefit the vast majority of us |

Oh Tom - the bread basket line was a great red herring, the two doctors a particularly nice touch, but I'm afraid the author has revealed his high education through use of the word "fewer", and not just to make the punchline work.
A lesser man than you, Tom, would be a less man. |

"We were taught the difference between fewer and less in a state school.Until recently Morrisons had "8 items or fewer" over their express checkout."
8 items or fewer is correct, because items is a countable plural noun |

I would say, there is just too less of a fuck to give with the whole government.
As a country we have accepted for the moment we aloud work houses and schools. Training us for the work, rest and play.
We go to school to teach us to go to work, to accept that the government are entitled to 25% of our money.
For years and years we have aloud this and nothing we do now will stop it.
Keep spending your hard earned money and keep giving to the jokers |

Taxes are important. To be fair, nothing that is community based can survive without funding, so that’s either directly out of your pocket, like club membership or through civic authorities, which is via tax. Tax is a good thing, but sadly, it often seems misspent.
Reading your post through again though, you might be right about schools. Seems they don’t work as well as we’d wish.
