I think it is rather a sad way to end a fantastic career. Seen him a few times live, in the days when he was the best Elvis impersonator around.
There's a classic sketch of him with Shirley Bassey on youtube - class act in his day. |

I prefered him when he was being funny rather than singing
He was no doubt talented but I saw him on celebrity wife swap and he was a horrid little man
