Ladies, if you have straight hair do you prefer curly and vice versa? Is the grass greener?

Everyone - How regularly do you professionally get your hair cut/styled/maintained? (If at all)

And what products do you recommend? I’m obsessed with my Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Mask currently.

Mine is wavy. It’ll curl with heat and hold for days. It’ll straighten with heat and hold for hours. If I leave it wavy I look like a hippie

Oh, more questions. Colour is done every 6 weeks (roots) and cut twice a year.

Recommended product is coconut oil as an overnight mask once a month

I have straight hair that is very wiry as I’m growing it out ?again) plus I have a lot of grey hair which I don’t colour (unless with semi permanent pastel colours when I’m feeling fancy). It goes wavy when long.

I have my hair trimmed every 8 weeks.

I use a Weleda Hair Tonic or a Castor Oil concoction once a week.

Would love curly hair. I used to have regular perms up until I was 18.

I have naturally curly hair and love it! Rarely straighten it but on the odd occasion I do.

I try to go to the hairdressers every 6 months for a cut and colour.

I love HairSyrup oils, makes my hair so soft.

I don't tend to use anything on my hair as it drys naturally and usually looks alright from jumping out the shower

My hair is curly. Afro curly - a mix of 3a and 3b curls. I'd love to have straight hair. Sometimes I think about getting it relaxed or a texture release or heck even a good weave but then other times I like my hair. It's frizzy though. Doesn't keep a hairstyle neatly.

I get it trimmed every six to eight weeks as I'm trying to grow it. Products wise? I love Coco and Eve hair masques. A good silk bonnet. I also really love Bouclème if I'm wearing it natural. And a scalp massager!

I'm currently thinking about wearing it natural for a social - I need to find a good casting gel though.

Carlisle usually

My hair is super fine. Whatever I do to it, it falls to straight with a slight wave within a half hour or so.

Bottle blonde. I bleach it at home whenever my roots start to bother me, anywhere between one and four months. I did study hairdressing so I know how to test when it's capable of withstanding the abuse.

I like to use argan oil before I dry it these days. But mostly I just let it do its own thing with whatever reasonable quality products were on special when I was shopping and needed more.

I'm lucky to be very low maintenance on skin and hair care.

Sometimes I think I'd love thicker, more complicated hair I could do more things with. But I like the low effort of my own. I can't do braids or dreads without an excess of kanekalon to fluff out my own fine mess into enough to not look balding. But it is doable if I put that effort in. If I want curls or something, I have to use extensions which are less fine and flaccid than my own hair.

Hair cut because I didn’t grow my sides I get every two weeks. Hair done also every 2-3 weeks if I want canerows but soon it’ll be long enough to do single plaits and twists more easily and I’ll do that myself probably every 2 weeks and will save so much money.

And products I think you can’t beat Aussie, she’s butter, and I often use olive oil products too.

I have naturally curly hair but I can easily wear it straight too so best of both

I have my roots done and trimmed every 3 months. I always go there looking a wreck!

Keeping an eye for recommendations. I’ve used all sorts but never feel like my hair gets enough conditioning.

I have curly hair somewhere between 2C and 3B.

I have it professionally cut every eight weeks. Professionally coloured several times a year. I get reverse balayage and Pintura highlights/lowlights.

I used to wish I had straight hair but a decade ago I learned to love my curly hair. I straighten it sometimes weekly and sometimes go months without straightening it. Depends on my mood and the weather too. Oddly, in the winter I tend to straighten it less.

My favourite products are Boucléme, and InnerSense.

My natural hair is curly. Short curly hair looks terrible on me. So I took the radical approach to a bad hair day… and I will never grow my hair out. I did it once after shaving my head, and till it was inches below my chin I hated the sight of it.

My hair is wavy/loose curls. I try to leave it alone most of the time and not use heat on it as it’s quite fine, I just have a lot of it. I prefer sleeping with it in a tight bun or a heartless curler if I’m going out though to give it a bit more oomph.

I have a love hate relationship with it.

My hair is straight but thick, like there is thousands of it. I absolutely hate it. I'm not the best at styling it either, it literally looks shit regardless of what I do with it. I'd love to go about in summer with pretty beach waves or something but I always end up looking like bloody Hagrid

Oh Pickle!

I had jumbo braids done in Barbados many years ago. Today I was looking at someone to possibly do goddess box braids because I'm sick of my siblings sending me hard wig soft life TikToks. I don't wear a wig. Never have.

I like the look of Boho ones as well but my head is a bit soft and I'm afraid of Aunties who will tell me I'm being soft and I have to sit for hours getting it done. What's the pain levels like for you when you get it braided?

There's nothing wrong with that. Curly hair is beautiful. I had dreadlocks in a few months ago, but have short hair now/at the moment. Getting them put back in again once my hairs long enough. Can't wait

I have curly hair which I blow dry to waves. I don't prefer straight because I consider I have the best of both worlds as I can straighten it if I want to.

I get it cut, tinted and blow dried every eight weeks because I can't afford it any more frequently.

I really recommend L'Oréal mythic oil

Mine goes wavy if it gets long enough, but I keep it so short that you'd never know! I get it cut about every 6 weeks. I use Aveda shampoo, conditioner and anti-frizz goo (a teeny tiny bit each day). That's my only concession to my appearance - buying Cards products in bulk about once a year. Maybe twice.

Mine us naturally wavy, sometimes I curl it with the irons, sometimes I just scrunch it. More often than not I just straighten it

I love my hair, I'm proud of it. I use Dove shampoo and conditioner, very little other product other than heat spray.

Due a haircut, my fringe is getting a bit long now

Manchester (she/her)

My hair is fine, dense, and wavy. When it's shorter than it is now or has layers (or both?) I can style it into mostly 2b-3a curls. (Modified curly girl method)

I used to wish for anything but this - if I'm not careful it looks somewhere between 80s puffy and neglected child caught in a tornado. Fortunately it's now long enough - and conditioned enough - that I can put it up and look like a member of society.

I last got it professionally cut in early 2022, and colour it myself when I can be bothered or if I'm seeing someone special.

For fine hair, I recommend grapeseed oil. Use on the bottom third of your lengths after washing, before leave-in conditioner, to seal in moisture.

My hair is straight and really does not like being curled, however I’ve tried. My daughter has the most beautiful ringlet curls, of course we’d both love to have what the other has got! She is forever straightening her beautiful curl with the straighteners that I bought to try and curl mine

Mine used to be cut into a graduated bob with a fringe and dyed black.

It’s now more natural. Fringe has grown out and it’s down half way down my back.

It’s more wavy and it’s lighter. Dark brown.

Haven’t had a proper cut in over 2 years.

Curl or wave definition products - if you find one you love, cling to it.

Mine too and due to itchy scalp, I wash and condition my hair every morning when I shower...

When it's semi-dry, I gather the length (to mid back) twist and crimp in a bun on my crown for some height. By the afternoon, it's dry with waves. With a bit of susshing gives it volume.

If it was shorter it would be much curlier.... I was doing hair before straighteners existed, so it was easier to diffuse. Then I loved the novelty of super straight hair. Now I like to curl it... With the straighteners lol

I like anything that's coconutty for washing it. And always use a serum.

I have just bought myself a triple barrel curler... It works like crimpers where the whole of the section is heated rather than just the bit around the barrel... It holds much better... Crimping has been the only thing that stays in mine until now

My hair is now short and resembles cotton wool if I don't dry it and use a leave in conditioner and then a styling paste.

Growing out the blonde, as I've got a lovely white/silver colour coming through.

I get it the undercut done monthly and then approx every 12wks the top cut as well.

If I have a daytime event, like a wedding or BBQ garden party, I would wash my hair the night before and while semi-dry would use those sponge stick (wire inside) curlers and sleep in them.

I'll have virtually an afro hair in the morning that gradually relaxes into big curls by the evening.
