I'm probably not the only one here who absolutely hates poor spelling & grammar on here but what's the most common ones you see on here? Every day I see "your" instead of "you're" and "discrete" instead of "discreet" |

The use of the word “here” three times in the same sentence is my fav.

I make typos all the time and find it pretty petty when people go out of their way to come across as high and mighty in relation to spelling, grammar and punctuation on a forum like this.
I’d definitely say the overall level of literacy has declined over the years, but VERY rarely can you not make out what someone means when they type something.
I’m probably in the minority but |

I agree with this, I make typos all the time as well as just type faster then I think causing me to make mistakes I wouldn't normally make |

Poor grammar isn’t really an issue.
Poor manners are a problem for me.
And I find people that put others down for grammar, spelling etc to be quite rude. Not everybody is fortunate enough to have a good education. Many people are dyslexic. Many more don’t have English as a first language.
Some of us are just appalling at typing on phones.

I'm similar to the lovely lady above. I'm lucky enough that my brain knows exactly what they're trying to say and it doesn't bother me. I'm here to meet decent people and I don't particularly judge that on their grammar abilities |

Wasn't going to say it but it's true. I can't help that I don't like mis-spelled words and poor grammar but if someone is Dyslexic then I can understand. |

This for me too, I'd be more put off by someone's piss poor attitude than how they spell. |

If they're throwing "LOLs" for their laughter and "Soz" for their apologies like unwanted confetti then I know they are being vacuous and lazy. Otherwise I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. |

I couldn’t agree with this more, and think it’s a pity that some people can’t be more tolerant, the people who struggle to tolerate this I often find rude and over indulge in self worth,
Maybe I’m more tolerant due to having two dyslexic brothers, one of whom struggles quite badly, sometimes I need to read his messages two or three times to understand what he’s trying to say, but, these people are bothering to try and post, and try to make it interesting, surely they are entitled to the same respect as the others who deem themselves “perfect”. |

Exactly. Idgaf if someone's grammar/spelling isn't the best, so long as I can still understand what they're saying, and what they're saying is respectful.
Personally, I think it's over-dramatic and pretentious to disregard someone because they aren't sure where to put their commas. |

Agree.
I often get bailed out by autocorrect so im not gonna lose sleep over misspelling, but sort of text speak where I’m guessing words is a bit frustrating |

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.
It's not a forum for the WGGB, it's a swingers site. Therefore I don't come on here expecting see a professional level of writing.
Many people who think they're grammar is great when arguing the toss with random people on a forum, would probably be surprised to discover their true level if their posts were cross-examined by someone who writes professionally. |

Like the lack of commers?
No it doesn't bother me, people make mistakes, autocorrect doesn't help & some people are dyslexic.
Text speak however does bug me, a few spelling/grammar mistakes doesn't.
If I were writing this in a professional setting I'd be more cautious of mistakes however on a fab forum I couldn't give a shit if my autocorrect fails me, I'm not here to be judged on my literacy skills.

I have no apologies for English not being my first language but I refuse to be constantly judged on that and being put down by people who think they are so perfect themselves.
Have a word with yourselves!
It’s difficult enough out there for everyone. |

Some of the most decent and genuine people on here struggle with spelling and grammar etc.
And for a few of them it really does cause massive anxiety, because it adds to their sense of exclusion.
One of the best I know struggles terribly with it.
So I think try to get to know the person.
If they're a twunt, it won't be linked into how they spell, but how they "are" more generally.

Grammar is subjective and I appreciate well formed messages.
However you have to accept a percentage of error due to phone auto correct in the heat of conversation or forum posting.
Also, many will not pre read before hitting send.
You also have dyslexia to contend with. Some might not even be aware they have a problem.
I know, I didn't - I was diagnosed at 42!
So yes Grammar is important, but in the online sense caveats need to be accepted.

Both me (jack) and violet are both dyslexic and we have noted it on our profile, we only did this because of the amount of messages we received mocking our spelling and grammar. We both have had struggles with this during school and have been bullied for it when younger so it hits a nerve for us when people judge based on spelling and grammar. We both didn't get diagnosed untill we were 18 and its shocking to think most go undiagnosed. It's a shame that it has to be stated on a profile rather than people just being a little more considerate. |

If anyone struggles with this, I'd like them to be comfortable and not to feel repressed, from being judged. We benefit from input from all types of people. If I get what someone is saying, that's all that matters to me. |
