No experience with the machines really. We do it the old fashioned way. My Mother started using a bread making machine in the late 90s and the bread it produced was horrible. I loved properly made homemade bread but not what came out of the bread maker! |

Well hello, what a surprise to find you on a food related thread "
Isn't it just. Have you got over your olivaeophobia? You could always make some nice fresh bread and have them together |

Advice I was given was always use good quality flour. And experiment with different types. I used to like half white/wholemeal. And you may need to adjust the timings given in the manual until your happy. A little bit of trial and error to start with |

My husband is quite the baker, and has made god knows how many varieties of bread, usually by hand.
About the only thing he uses the breadmaker for is his heavenly pizza dough recipe, as it's easier to mix it on that as opposed to chasing your tail for ten minutes.
If you want bread you can really enjoy as the centrepiece of a meal, then you should have a go at Focaccia, for which you can use a breadmaker to take care of the mixing, usually on the "dough" setting. |

I use a bread maker but only to the first proving stage by using the 'dough' setting. I then take it out, knock it back and shape it whichever way I want before the second proving.
I'd recommend just adapting any bread recipe, using decent ingredients and making rolls rather than a loaf because they're easier to freeze.
You can successfully make all kinds of yeasted recipes and have a lot of fun. Chelsea buns were my most recent bake. The only thing I don't use the bread maker for is ensaimada. |

Freezing is definitely a big advantage because fresh bread goes stale so quickly. I make rolls for ease of freezing and because I can't slice in a straight line |

I started making home baked bread during covid lockdown and been making my own on and off ever since.
I started with a simple quick soda bread and progressed from there. I bought a decent stand mixer after a while and since then i've made all sorts of bread. I find its something i enjoy doing now rather than a chore.
Always use good quality strong flour for the best results. |

I used my bread maker to make pizza dough this evening. So much better than buying it.
I also use it for plain white loaves. I just follow the ingredients from the booklet that came with the bread maker. |

I don’t use a machine but love making bread, wholemeal can be challenging so I tend to make 50-50. Sometimes experiment with sourdoughs a f replacing the water with beer.
For best results try to avoid the urge to add more flour, keep it slightly too wet & sticky & add a little bit of oil to the surface instead. |

*coughs.
I’ve never actually used one of those machines, as I always make it by hand. (are use a KitchenAid with the dough hook, to help me out)
What don’t you just dump all the ingredients in and it does it for you? |

Haven't made bread the machine way before, but have been successful twice (the only times I did it), making sourdough bread from scratch. Takes a few days to make the sourdough starter, but once it's made, you can keep it going and make lots of loaves. |

It's certainly the healthiest bread to eat that's for sure. And you get the satisfaction too from making such a delicious creation |
