The Huhne/Pryce case has, for me, been quite interesting.

From what I can gather, he drove too fast, she took his points, he had an affair, she told the press about the points, so now they're in prison.

Yet what has struck me is that they both have been given the same sentence - 8 months custodial. He would have got 9 months but he pleaded guilty so got 8 months.

Whatever the outcome, their children have been put through hell (especially the son he wanted her to abort) and they're both now costing the taxpayers money.

Was she a downtrodden wife do you think, being told by her husband (who she'd put her career on the back burner) or was her selling her story a two fingered salute to him for cheating with his PR adviser?

She used it to try and get back at him.

Her spiteful attack has got her an 8 month all inclusive holiday though.

Not quite what the journalist told her she would get though.

Hell hath no fury and all that but they are both as bad as each other. Maybe the judge could have staggered their sentences though to ease the disruption to their children but they do deserve it

She wanted to end his career which she has done. Unfortunately the slap on the wrist she expected came around her face.

As much as she may have wanted to get back at him this has backfired horribly. A high price to pay for losing your licence for 6 months.

I think they are both to blame. But her motivation of bringing him down has really backfired on her. I imagine she's sitting in her cell now, without her luxuries, feeling rather foolish.

they both did it not just her. Neither of them have given a thought to their children in all this it seems to me. Neither of them comes out of this with anything to recommend them as upstanding members of the community

Agree with you that they are both to blame, however, this was an agreement that they both reached 10 years ago for whatever reasons ...to now bring it back up with such devastating consequences on innocent people in her family seems completely ludicrous to me

ditto, whether she was maybe persuaded by others that her course of action would end his career and give her satisfaction or it was all her own idea she certainly did'nt look at the potential consequences..

The law doesn't work that way, and nor should it. If they'd had any thoughts for their children they wouldn't have broken the law TOGETHER in the first place. The kids will survive these two ruthless parents and they might even fair better for having limited contact with them for 8 months. And the parents might just emerge from prison slightly better people for it.

I don't necessarily disagree with you Ruggers (rule number one, don't disagree with a mod )

I have been on the receiving end of a bitter man and I was threatened with my professional body. I dealt with things in the proper channels.

I think that there are bitter people in both genders however I do believe hell hath no fury like a woman scorned - I just think that Vicky Pryce has played a very dangerous game after being betrayed.

I don't doubt there are men who can be vindictive and bitter and take revenge also....I just think women do it more..... or say they do or would if it came to the crunch.

I wonder whether its a woman's need to tell everyone about things that makes them appear more bitter whereas men do it slightly quieter?

I do think they've both fucked up in this situation, he twice and her twice. Holloway and Wandsworth though, not exactly open prisons! No parliamentary privileges and expenses in there!

Rule number 3 - learn that mods have a sense of humour

It could well be that men are quieter about it...could be a good idea for a thread to find out.

I'm not sure they're little. I know that it came out that Huhne wanted Pryce to have an abortion - I can't imagine how their son is coping with that bombshell as both of his parents are in prison.

You cant be certain that their child/ren wont be damaged. What I meant was, they are hardly violent criminals, yes they both deserve their punishment and prison sentences but the child doesn't need to be punished. I do realise the law doesn't work that way (I'm not a grandmother and don't need to be taught to suck eggs!)

I'd like to think he's trying to work out how to make it up with his children instead of plotting revenge against his children's mother.

I do like to think that people have good in them, no matter how much of an idiot they have behaved.

His priority should be his parents instead of his ego.

That must be so difficult to have learned. I hope they can work through that and if possible have a relationship of some form as parent and child.
