Does anyone else find December and January the hardest months to deal with? I’m just coming out of a mini-breakdown that literally last about 6 weeks. Think I need to move every winter to a sunnier climate!

Sorry to hear that OP, January seems to be a bit of a shit month for most coming off a Christmas break with added finical stresses as well. Add to that the fact it's still pretty miserable on the weather front and it's very easy to feel down.

I really don't think I'm qualified to give advice, but I hope things take a turn for the better soon

They do seem to be highly recommended by people who have seasonal affective disorder

I'm March , I tend to feel less miserable by mid February, although that's not always true, my depression and anxiety can be a bit of a rollercoaster

The difference daylight makes is staggering, you just don’t realise until a geographical change.

I first noticed when I relocated to Kent from the north west, the sun rises so much earlier east south east than anywhere else in the UK; it was so noticeable to my mood in the morning.

Since moving to Asia, it’s essentially day for 12 hours and night for the other 12; you can set your clock by it, plus or minus twenty mins as the year progresses.

I’m awake at sunrise everyday, have been for a couple of years now and it’s transformed many aspects of my personal and professional life.

The weather is an added bonus of course

We both hate December and January so we went away for Christmas for the first time and it has made a real difference. Went to the Canary Islands. That bit of sun has made the winter a bit more bearable!

It's more to do with how the colder months effect me mentally, rather than physically.

I guess you can say that.

I can't do the hobbies I enjoy because of the weather, so it leaves you with less to do, and more time for your brain to wonder, which in turn isn't good mentally, if you struggle with anxiety etc.

Time to ponder is what keeps me awake at night. Then I’m tired the next day and it snowballs
