Some profiles on here are like St.Paul's Epistle (that's a very long letter), to the Corinthians - they are so very long, with more 'do's' and 'dont's' than you can imagine - what a pain they are to read. Why do people go so overboard with them - can't for the life of me, be arsed to read them - very offputting, that's for sure - anyone else think the same as me??

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I am being incredibly general here but most single mens profiles tend to be a bit on the short side. I actually prefer a decent amount to read so we both know that we both are looking for the same thing. But if the profile is so long my eyes glaze over and I skip to the end, then for me its too long.

Mine's longish. Think I'll leave it as it is if it's all the same. The majority like it (unless they're telling me porkies) it provides a snapshot of my personality etc. I'd stop worrying about how others choose to use the site. Free will rules

I hate reading a profile to see it's been written by a total minger.

I like long profiles, it means you know what someone is looking for before getting into contact.

I've just put my old profile back up, it's longish but it suits my needs and it's my first numpty filter, if someone doesn't read it and send me a joke then they're blocked straightaway -I'm not overkeen on long SHOUTY lists of dos and don'ts, I move straight on to the next profile. If someone finds my profile too long to read then they're unlikely to be ones I want to meet

Mine is long ish - and I have tried to shorten it but then I feel something is missing - I really do want to give a reasonably accurate picture of who I am.

And I personally prefer the male profiles to be a little detailled. DOes not have to be War and Peace but I definitely want a bit more than a one liner.

Did you know the Corinthians actually wrote back to Paul

"Dear Paul,

Many thanks for all the letters, but for the love of God, please stop writing to us. We really haven't got the time or the manpower to respond to them all. Please, please, please get a hobby - soon.

Yours,

be it two words or two paragraphs ,what real difference does it make ? im very sure if a profiles not working for a person then they will change it !

people will taylor their profiles to find the type of people THEY wish to meet .how they do that and portray themselves on their on profile is their choice .

youve already said a long profile rules ppl out for you ,so be greatful you need not waste your time messaging them . same way as i rule out people who cant spend 2 minutes of their time to read my profile but exspect me to take hour or more out of my day to go meet them . bit one sided is it not lol !

At 1855 words long my profile is probably one of the longest on Fab, but it works and I get loads of meets from it. Like members have said here it's all about selling yourself and attracting the sort of people you want to meet.

Prefer longer profiles, you get a feeling of who/what they are and of course what they look for in a meet. Then if they appeal and you have similar interests/bounds etc you choose whether to write to them or respond. There are too many vague profiles in our opinion, that results in going round the houses, too many messages/text tennis etc.
