"Recently I have been getting up rather early to gave the day, I’ve found myself eagerly awaiting the Shipping Forecast……. Am I losing my mind???????
Do you have a ship?"
Nope!! There’s just something reassuring about it, I find it calms my mind early in the morning as I get ready to face the day ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I’m not a big Blur fan, but This Is a Low is a wonderfully elegiac song. It interpolates the locations from forecast into the song.
I believe Damon Albarn wrote it while in the US and feeling homesick. Many people find it comforting.
I can see Lundy far in the distance from my bedroom. I often just stare at the lighthouses flashing at night for ages. It’s very calming, reassuring and contemplative. It also makes me feel the power of nature and insignificant (in a good way).
Actually “it gives me an enormous sense of well-being”

If you have difficulty sleeping listening to The Sleeping Forecast on BBC sounds is really soothing... they put bits of the shipping forecasts go classical music... it's lovely |

When I cannot sleep I play music by Debussy, that is very soothing too ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Oh, that’s a really great version. Diolch .
With my geeky music-head on, I wish the string arrangement included the distinctive little guitar phrase Graham Coxon chucks in the original. The strings are lovely though . |
