Monthly STI test reminder!
Jump to: Newest in thread
It’s the monthly reminder!
As we’re in a group of people that had more sex than others with different partners, we should have regular tests, it’s very much part of the ethical bit of enm!
A quick google will bring you to your free service on the NHS. It’s free it’s easy, what’s not to love
Let’s be the change we wish to happen.
Post below when you’ve ordered!
Some areas are different but there will be some provision! I believe free testing is every three months! I’ve got a few months to wait till my next test! |

Ordered!
A little late, but that's because the system didn't recognise my new postcode as it's on a new estate.
But a quick email to SH.UK and within days it was all sorted.
5* service |

Done! Yay me. I had a bit of a struggle with blood so I managed to find a clinic with appointments readily available and it was fantastic. So quick. Easy. Results back in two days.
You don't have to go to your local clinic for sexual health screenings, you do for contraception but screenings you're good to go anywhere. Well, that's what I was told. So, I thought I'd share in case it helps anyone out. |

"Do I still need tests if I only have sex once a year? "
My meets are irregular, to say the least, but I still get tested every three months. It can take several weeks for an infection to show in tests.
My latest just came back all clear “third time lucky” after a frustrating couple of attempts where the blood sample had haemolysed (clotted) in transit.
Always best to know. |

"I just go to the clinic and get tested. No faffing about. Nice staff. Results in a few days "
Do they do more in the clinic than the standard 4 in the home kit? |

I believe it’s a test for the main four and then hep b and c. They ask standard questions (number of recent partners, length of history with those partners, any same sex partners (unsure if they ask women that) and any whether you have any symptoms).
then they take a urine and blood sample and send it off. It couldn’t be any simpler
The last time I tested on Thursday and got the negative result text Tuesday |

That's why these home kits aren't really up to the job tbh. I've used them and the vial liquid doesn't even mix so it's highly likely the blood will have deteriorated in transit. I just go to my local drop in on the times they are open and sit and wait. Can also chat with them while there about anything that bothering you. Face to face is human and that's what I prefer in life. |

I'm taking it that you don't have medical expertise, and that this is just your personal opinion? There isn't any liquid in the vial nowadays. |

"Does anyone have any tips for finger-milking? It's a nightmare."
Run under as hot as you can tolerate water for quite a while beforehand.
If still no success there is different lancets. Try a different one.
Hope that helps |
