Are you aware of the origins of the saying and why it's 'cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey'?
It dates back to medievil times when naval vessels carried cannons. The cannon balls were kept on a rack, called a brass monkey. Due to expansion and contraction related to temperature, when it got very cold, the cannon balls would shrink just enough that they would fall from the rack, hence the term |
