Do any of you support a charity on a regular basis? I do and it’s a hospice in Kent as they do great job of caring for people not just in their last weeks or days, but a rest bite for long term ill. |

I give to MacMillan and the local air ambulance.
As an aside, I was off work last week and watched some daytime TV. I could not believe the amount of begging adverts for Africa, donkeys and jaguars! |

Yes I do with 2 now but it hasn't come without its complications as the charities do pass on your number to telemarketers who then can inundate you with calls for other charities. I know they can claim tax back if its a regular donation but its made me apprehensive about supporting any more. |

A couple of cancer charities and I also get involved in Help for Heros events on occasion.
I always put money in tins when I see people collecting and get my young son to do the same when he's with me. |

I like to think that the money I give will make its way to who it's intended for so I give certain charities a wide birth, and I mean those where they only get 5p in the pound the rest goes on admin fees |

I've fund raised for my local branch of the RSPCA and for the Blue Cross. I also have direct debits for local cattery, national RSPCA, Childline, Spastics Society (not called that anymore but can't remember the PC name), World Villages for Children and I sponsor an ankle-biter in Honduras called Oscar. At my Slimming World group, my members choose a charity every year for our odd bits of change (this year we've donated £115 to our local Age UK Centre) and I'll buy raffle tickets and chuck change into buckets and tins. I'm lucky to have a bit of spare cash most of the time so I try to give a bit back to those less fortunate than myself |

I work for the charity Army of Angels. It helps give support for wounded soldiers. I used to give to many others in the past. When my kids were little they sponsored WWF for about 9 years until I watched a documentary on tv about where our money actually goes. As little as 2 or 3% out of the pound actually goes on the aid itself. Hence why I will not give to any of the top named charities no more. I also donate food and blankets to the animal shelter rather than give money. That way I know what little I do give is actually going on the animals and not lining some suckers pocket !!! |

I also help this charity (HFH) a much needed charity and makes me feel humbled. |

He clears his toys out once a year too and they go to the charity shops. It always makes me proud of him when he says things like 'I still kind of like this toy, but I don't play with it much now. It will make someone else happy who doesn't have many toys'  |

On a different note, my mum utterly gobsmacked me once when I was out with her. It was during the miners strike and we walked past a load of miners with banners and rattling tins asking for money, one tried to stop my mum and she turned and said 'fuck off! You've got a job, go back to work!'
Never heard her speak like that ever before or since  |
