I read an interesting thing about it. I dont think it is so, because it also depends who is doing the considering.
I think that the younger you are lets say 20, the lower the age is when one think what old is, like 60 or even 50, but the older you get like me. I am now 41 years old. I wouldnt consider the age 70 to be particularly old.
I actually think hat 95 is old, as long one is fit and healthy and can move like they did at younger age one isnt old in that kind of sense. I like the saying "young at heart".

70 is certainly within shooting distance of “old age”. It’s not exactly middle age, is it?
Being old doesn’t mean being decrepit though. I know plenty of people in their 70’s who are very fit and active. And plenty of younger people who aren’t.

I believe the number itself is the trigger. There are some amazing 50+ people who are in great shape, look young, positive outlook to life and fun to be with. You just have to give them (us) a chance. |

Don't 'they' say we are supposed to get three score years and ten, so 70 years is an average life expectancy.
I'm 46, but I would say 70 is old. Maybe on the younger side of old.
But as others have said, it depends on the person itself. |

“Three score years and ten” is a biblical reference. Life expectancy has increased since then
Old age is usually defined (for statistical purposes) as either 60 or 65. 70 is definitely old.

I am not sure why age is considered a factor surely if the body is capable and the lady finds it attractive the age of the body is surely irrelevant also with age often comes experience. There is the saying that it doesn't matter the age or size of the wand but how you wave it. Obviously I am biased but if I find a lady in her 70's or even 80's who has a reasonable figure and a sexy mind who is willing then her age is just a number. |

Coming through my 70s I did not consider it to be really old, meets were thin on the ground here on Fab, not surprising as most people on Fab consider 50 to be old.However out of Fab it was a totally different story and many friendships were made and enjoyed.
Now in my mid 80s and suffering from a heart condition and severe osteoarthritis in both knees I consider myself to be really old and as my profile states I am in Lifes departure lounge 
Everyone will have different views on whether or not 70 is considered old and that is how it should be. |

OP didn’t mention attraction or bodies working. He just asked whether 70 is old or not.
It is.
It clearly isn’t middle age, and it’s past the age where people typically retire and receive OAP.
Being healthy, fit, active, attractive … all of those things are possible at 70. Doesn’t mean you’re not old though |

I would say 70 is old.
I think that being 'old' is seen as a bad thing by most people and the general opinion is that you must do everything you can to prevent it. Obviously the older you get the closer to death but it's not something to hide or be ashamed of.

I'll be 70 in 2026.
I hope to maintain my fitness and flexibility because it's important the older you get. I can hardly believe that I've lived as long as I have, life goes by so quickly especially it seems the older you get.
If I mention being old almost everyone says "no you're not". I genuinely don't understand why unless they think it's rude to agree.

It doesn't mean you can't do anything, that stereotype of doddering old people has long since vanished and I'm glad.
I don't know why people see being old as a bad thing. Or heck, being middle aged (which you are from 40+). I'm going to celebrate that I've been able to reach middle aged. Celebrate when I'm old.

Completely agree … I do yoga twice a week eat healthily … I’m told I don’t look my age… equally I live life to the full know I’ve a lot less left than I’ve had! |

I don't deny that being old can be a struggle especially if you have health or mobility issues. I think people should concentrate less on looking young and more on maintaining flexibility, balance and overall health. That said there are certain illnesses that are unavoidable whatever you do.

I think in days gone by...70 was old , but these days many folks in their 60s have a positive outlook on life...some maybe retired with pension and time to do nice things and visit nice places...I mean most of my fave rock stars are in their 70s and 80s and still rockin.. |

I`ve always had quite a simple view on this. Average life expectancy in the UK is currently just over 80 years old. For this purpose let's agree at 80. Imagine your life like the seasons :-
0-20 years Spring
20-40 years Summer
40-60 years Autumn
60-80 years Winter
So, yes, 70 is "old". Not saying you are useless or anything but, by definition, you are old. Some of the worst kind (in my opinion) are those that pretend they aren't.

I might be almost 68 (March) but I don't consider myself old. I've just got divorced. Got myself a nice little flat. Bought a Ford Kuga. Just bought some personalised number plates for it, and I'm now happily fucking women in their 39's and 40's on fabswingers. What's not to like? |

This is the way I see people view on age. Everyone is in that age group is the same. Yes I will admit my profile age is correct. In very good health .
As an example. Someone who I worked with has just been told he is no longer fit for work again doing the job he was doing. He has diabetes , plus damaged spine , discs. Yet if going by his and my age. Who should be the fittest person. ? |

I'll be 68 soon so I suppose I am old in years but not in outlook. I train in Muay Thai twice a week and walk the dog every day. I've got no health issues and don't take any pills for anything. Basically I feel fit and healthy and put it down to having been reasonably active and having lucky genes.
Someone once said, can't remember who, that old is always someone 10 years older that you! |

Well the average life expectancy in the UK is 80, so at 70 you have 10 years left. At 95 on average you'd have died 15 years ago..."
80 is surely combined, for males it's 2-3 years lower, but it's only a statistic, and heavily reliant on geography and affluence |

When I was 15, anybody over 30 was "nearly dead" in my eyes. Now I'm mid 40s, anybody under 40 appears somewhat unrefined and a bit immature. It's all subjective really.
As far as 70 goes, I don't consider that particularly old at all. I consider 90+ old. |

Age is but a number.
I think you are as old as the one you feel. 
LOL I do like people in the 18's to 45's to be honest, I like a modern outlook and the feel of younger flesh.
The one thing I notice as I get older is that most people my age tend to harp on about their aches pains operations, medications, bowel troubles and of course their consultants who "have never seen any thing like it before". |

Exactly so. I'm over 70 and off to Scotland next week to do a spot of winter mountaineering in the Cairngorms - not a place for the unfit. I have lots of younger friends too from when I worked with students and they don't see me as 'old' even though we have different tastes. |

I remember at the age of 17 starting work and just wanting to party all of the time, thinking that for those colleagues I worked with who were 23 or 24 yrs old with kids that their lives were essentially over... very ignorant and naive at the time.
I'm 39 now and work with 17-yr-olds who probably think the way I did back then but perception is subjective. It may take longer to get over a hangover and I haven't a clue about chart music, but I'm more mature and don't understand younger trends.
People stay younger for longer now in their outlooks. I remember my gran in her 60s back in the 1980s who having a proper old lady perm and was v old fashioned... a lot of the 60-yr-olds I know now are more vibrant, in better health and are more open-minded and physically fit. 70 is definitely older age, but it doesn't necessarily mean someone acts like they're ready for the scrapyard. |

Well I've got a seventy year old fast asleep alongside me right now, and believe me, she knocks spots off the average bimbo, with a body that some women half her age would give everything they own to have, and she also has everything in her wardrobe to tease and please her chosen guy. Does it get any better? I don't think so! |

Very true, as you mention it’s subjective view point that changes over time. I guess the view that 78 for example is old is probably shaped by the average life expectancy however my name lived into her mid nineties and looked no different than she did in seventies until she got ill and then she aged over night. I guess maybe I kind of always thought regardless of the number your not actually old until in the stage of life when things start go wrong and it becomes a downward cycle. Until then tho, I guess your as old as you feel or live

Old doesn’t mean that someone is on their last legs, it just means that they are old.
A friend of mine is pushing 80 and competes in full Ironman completions. He is fantastically fit and active, but that does not mean that he is young. He isn’t, he is old.
Many old people hate the idea of being old, or people thinking that they are old, because they associate it with negative connotations. I would include my dad in that … in his 90’s but won’t wear a hearing aid in case people think he is old. They don’t think he is old because of his hearing aid, they think he is old because of when he was born. |

More confusion around what the word “old” means. It simply refers to age … not to fitness, outlook, energy levels, attitudes … just a number. And 70 is old.

Id love to find a lady of 70+, who would like a fwb, its very difficult though. I think age is just a number, and really nowt should be read into it, as ling as your two consenting adults who want to have fun together, then so be it
You only get one life, enjoy it. and if i was lucky enough to find a lady in that age range, id consider myself a very lucky guy. |

By 70 you are likely retired and more than likely in the last 20/25% of life. Most people's bodies by 70 are worn/very worn and many ailments,illness and conditions are common.
I would consider 70 as old and i am 45.

I agree and my dad is exactly the same.
There seems to be a sense of shame attached to age and denial of the fact with many people eager to show that they aren't old.

I think 70 is considered as old by most because it's 13 years beyond the national retirement age and only about 12 years away from the average UK mortality age (less in Scotland, I think).
Because I work a 3 day week, I intend to work past 70 (I enjoy it so why not) and I keep my self fit so at 70, if I'm still fit and working, I won't consider myself old but I still think it's fair to say 70 is old - 85% of the UK average life expectancy! |

"I think 70 is considered as old by most because it's 13 years beyond the national retirement age and only about 12 years away from the average UK mortality age (less in Scotland, I think).
Because I work a 3 day week, I intend to work past 70 (I enjoy it so why not) and I keep my self fit so at 70, if I'm still fit and working, I won't consider myself old but I still think it's fair to say 70 is old - 85% of the UK average life expectancy! "

There's old & feeling old....
I suppose you are past retirement age.
However, many retired grandparents are probably busier than they have ever been because they become granny & grandad day care cos of their children's working patterns.
I would rather be busy & active than retire & die a couple of years later. Seen it happen!
Now I'm starting to get nearer 70 & far away from my 20's I don't see it as a number. I don't want to retire just in case I pop off the mortal coil....
When I come to retire so, it will be 66 & 67 then, I intend to eat well, get fit & be even busier. I'll be closer to 70.
I don't feel my age. I'm still 30 in me noggin'!!! I've felt my most optimistic then. Now, it's a case of wondering what time have I got left...????    |

This is correct and I refer to my previous post above. Many younger people are and yes perhaps I am lucky less healthy than me at my age. Some posters on here seem to have the opinion that once 50, 60 or above should not be on Fab due to age . ?
Yet are physically able to be sexually active . Even though age barriers are there? |

Current average male life expectancy in the UK is 81. Healthy life expectancy (dying without an age related disability) is 69.
For women it's 85 and 71.
Medical technology keeps improving so we can expect these numbers to go up, but microplastics, pollution, stress, and all the other shit we're doing to ourselves are also working hard to balance it out.
So yeah, 70 may well be the last year you're here, or the last one you're here and feeling healthy. I'd say that counts as old.
I would ask though - what's so bad about that? Why is old such a swear word?

Agreed. But that’s a completely different question: why are women in fab not interested in men over 50? Probably because they have so many approaches they have to narrow the field somehow. |

There’s nothing wrong with being old. As you say, the alternative is worse. Being old is a privilege, a lot has to go right in order to reach old age.
And yet we keep reading shite like 60 is the new 40, trying to persuade people that they’re not old, instead of acknowledging age and saying make the most of your 60’s, 70’s etc rather than pretending that people are still 40. |

Personally I don't think there's anything bad about it as such, obviously you're nearer the end of your life than most younger people but if you're reasonably healthy and stop wasting time worrying about being old or trying to deny it's not bad.
It's such a swear word because we're surrounded by a society that tells us being old is a very bad thing and we must do everything we can to avoid admitting it.
I think accepting that you're old way is easier than trying to pretend you're not. It doesn't mean you have to break out the velcro shoes and crimplene trousers but it does mean that you have to accept that on sites like this being 'still able to have sex' and 'not looking your age' (sorry everyone but it doesn't matter who's said you don't, you do, we all do) is not enough to make people interested in you . |

I wonder if it seems that way because a lot of over 60s don't rely on social media to keep in touch with friends or to meet people.
My dad is 96 (as I keep telling people  ) and he's out at least four times a week usually more. |

Agreed and it applies to any age. I know most older women will have had younger men who are deeply puzzled when you don't fancy them as their assumption is 'young fit, who wouldn't' - that older woman she will.... she'll find me a dream.' ....

Age matters a lot + it can't be reversed . You might live a healthy life and enjoy the benefits of that and another might burn out early having got their kicks the way they wanted but who had the most fulfilled life is open to debate. |

As an indicator of anything else it means nothing.
After living 70 years you can still be active and usefull with a wealth of experience.
OR
You can be the ignorant waste of space you've been all your life.

I am looking forward to this coming weekend for I will be celebrating my 84th birthday.
No one is more surprised than me, I retired some 22 years ago thinking that if I made it to 70 I would happy.
I have never seen the inside of a Gym nor do I follow any food fads aimed at keeping me alive, just taking every day as it comes.
Despite the onset of Osteoarthritus and a heart condition I remain active and get out 4 or 5 days a week, Pub lunches, school runs with the grandkids, town centre shopping, just a few of my activities.
Despite the lack of interest in me I will hang on here on Fab, never say never,after all my aim is to reach 99.
Is 70 old ? I think it is.

Great to hear that you are in such good shape.
Yes it is still possible to build muscle at 70 but it is a lot harder to do so and recovery becomes a lot more important.
Doesn’t mean that 70 isn’t old though. It is. But it is possible to be fit, strong, healthy and old |
