Today for reasons I won't discuss I was told and diagnosed with a mental health condition called "moral injury". This is the first time I have heard this term. I have googled it and now have a better understanding.

As this forum for me is anonymous I was wondering if there is anyone else here that been told that they are suffering from moral injury? A

That sounds (from what I’ve read before on it) really difficult. Sorry to hear you’ve experienced something that has triggered this. Hope you find healthy coping strategies. Good luck.

Well my initial consultation was discovering if I was suffering PTSD because of my behaviour and feelings are closely aligned to some of the symptoms, I was told it is moral injury that I suffer with.

Just need to wait now to see what the treatment for that looks like.

All over the place

Sorry to ask mate but would does that cover?

Won't go into things much but had a 'disrupted' childhood and have had counselling for anxiety and depression a few years ago.

Helped me at the time but often feel myself slipping

I have only just learnt this today so I am still not really in the know.

The below link can explain better than I can.

From what I have been told counselling is really setup to help people like myself. It really does need an expert consultant. I am being referred next week.

I self referred for talking therapy last year. In some areas you might need to go through your GP

I’d recommend it to anyone, it’s definitely helped me

I have been referred through the NHS using Op Courage for veterans. The service works a bit quicker through that route.

I've never heard of that one OP, but therapy honestly really helps. It's helped me make a sense of my life and realise a lot of times when people took the piss and when I could have behaved better too.

Glad your getting sorted out mate.

I've had similar experiences and feeling powerless to stop injustice and things happening.

Best wishes mate

Thank you. It looks like it's going to be cognitive therapy. Just have to wait until Monday to find out.

I had to look that up as I've never heard of it. It sounds traumatic and complicated emotionally. It's great that you've got some therapy lined up - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be fantastic (I've had it twice) and I hope it helps you.
