Dune is s big read but once you get into it you can’t put it down, Hitchikers books just do the first 3, the rest aren’t as good |

"Anyone know any good sci fi / fantasy books im recently getting into reading / audio books recommendations needed
Thank you "
Try the Necroscope series of books by Brian Lumley.
It's epic and it's got everything horror, fantasy Sci-Fi some romance ok it's between vampires and it's twisted.
It's got time travel, werewolves.
How it's never been made into a film is beyond me, possibly the complexities of actually making it into a film.
1st book is a warm up really gets going by number 3.
And the vampire world books are fricking awesome. |

I second the Vampire World series - but I find it diffcult to recommend anything, as people's tastes are so different, even in a niche market like SF/Fantasy...I loved the Thieves' World anthology, for example, but never known or heard of anyone else that even read them, let alone liked them!! |

It's that the main character is a real 70s-style antihero, and the books are written in an almost classy type of pulp fashion.
A hell of a lot of fun! |

If you like Star Trek, I’m currently reading “We Have Engaged the Borg”. It’s a fan-fiction story, done as an oral account of the events leading up to, during and the aftermath of the Wolf 359 story, from different perspectives, some well known Star Trek characters and some that were relatively minor on screen but important in the universe. I’m about 2/3 of the way through it at the moment and it’s pretty good to say it’s a free download from wolf359project. |

For classics, go for Isaac Asimov and Arthur Clarke.
For mindfuck plots, go for Philip K.Dick and Ursula Le Guin.
For pure entertainment, try Andy Weir(Martian and Project Hail Mary) or the Expanse series if you have a lot of time. |

If you find Terry Pratchett too whimsical, try Tom Holt. His work is more "grounded" in my opinion, and he draws a lot from real world mythology. I will caution however, he also tries to make Fantasy funny and humour is very subjective. |

Alien - Alan Dean Foster.
Read the book before I saw the film as I was too young to see it. However the bookseller didn’t particularly care it would scare the me, even the cover said ‘in space nobody can hear you scream’.
No Hayes code or British Board of Classification for books. |

If you enjoyed War of the Worlds then you could try Wells' The Time Machine and The Island Of Dr Moreau which I think are better novels than WOTW. |
