What’s the deepest thought
Jump to: Newest in thread
I got our house an expensive carbon monoxide detector and mounted it opposite our 2nd floor boiler cupboard this afternoon after some very deep thoughts this morning.
I feel like it’s a depth of thinking many would think would be out of my range.

Not my deepest thought but, I have been thinking about the man I was behind in a queue in the shop yesterday. His items came to five pound something, he pulled some coins out of his pocket handed them to the woman at the till and said, sorry they're stuck together, I think its jam. I've been thinking about that a lot. |

I heard a little bird chirping a song in a farmshop and I thought oh they must have a little budgie in a cage. It was actually a little robin, free as the day he was born to come and go, just dancing about looking for crumbs and singing. (No doubt shitting on the bread rolls) Sweet. |

What do I do with my father in between the two hospital appointments tomorrow, when I need to do some work, where I can work and use the loo if I need it, but where I can also keep tabs so he doesn't wander off?
I thought I had a plan but the stupid art gallery is closed on a Monday and the gastro pubs don't open till midday |

"Is gargling with salt water worth it for even more salty fluid?
Really pushing the definition of deep here. "
If you have a throat infection, sore throat or ulcer, salt water gargling can help reduce the pain.
Soluble aspirin is also useful as a gargle/mouthwash. |

At least they did something useful rather than, I dunno, building a mansion in the shape of their face or a fuckoff yacht or whatever. We can use those fucking stations. |

St. Pancras apparently had the Govt as part investors and the hotel was designed by George Gilbert Scott in a design competition and was chosen because it was SO ludicrous |

Yeah and weirdly after typing it I went to ‘why wasn’t I good enough for my dad?’ That fucking bastard I think I hate him. But I also don’t. Which I hate.

"How small and infrequent family gatherings are in the uk compared to here in SE Asia , and how sad that is. "
Families are smaller. My entire family will fit around 1 small, round pub table, if I wanted to be in the presence of all of them. I am genetically related to very few people on this earth. |

Actually, it was, if someone hates me so much, why would they have a picture of me public. Surely thats the last thing anyone would want!
And when a mutual friend told me about it, and I tackled them, they have the nerve to get angry! |

That’s no always the case though. I have brother and sister in laws , uncles , cousins, nieces and grand nieces we are mostly spread out around the world though and other than special occasions barely keep in touch.
I love how large families support each other practically, emotionally and financially , have regular gathering of 20-30 and value interdependence over independence. |

I think culturally, lots of Black and Asian families still provide this in Britain. And still see one another regularly. |

"That you’ve had today? On Sunday 14th January 2024.
Why is everyone is banging on about the post office scandal programme? "
Because a lot of people (700+) were punished for something they didn't do and the people responsible for that still haven't owned up or admitted any wrong doing. Victims lost livelihoods, freedom, families and in some cases committed suicide.
The people in charge at the Post Office and Fujitsu should be prosecuted for their fraud. |

That story has been common knowledge for well over a decade. It’s been in and out of the news ever since 2009. There was an enquiry in 2012 that found it faulty, there were appeal cases in 2019, 2020 and 2021. There was a second gov enquiry in 2020.
There’s been countless news stories, documentaries, articles, press releases etc since 2009….
Yet now is the moment people decide to care? Because it was turned into a dramatised soap opera?
It really makes me lose my faith in humanity |

I think it is because the scale has become apparent. How many of the 700 or so of those wrongly convicted have had their convictions overturned? About 10% or so. And that is after all those reports, hearings and documentaries. The public don't watch those. They watch dramas. They watch things in terms that can be understood. |

No I did I’m just pointing out that it’s hardly surprising given that we’re beings that can only learn from others and other things.
Also I’m pointing out that we’re all influenced by things. We can’t be disappointed just because someone is influenced by something different to us.
I could be shocked that people are influenced by Tory party and right wing bullshit about culture wars being a threat to society. Some people will be shocked that others are influenced by mainstream media etc etc. but we’re influenced by things. Nobody is above it. |

I simply don't have that many relatives on the Earth. I have 1 brother & a sister in law, his wife. They have 2 kids. I have my own 2 children and my husband. My Dad (dementia, can't cope away from home). I do have a Mother but might as well not. I have 1 Uncle & his wife. And 3 cousins. My Dad was an only child, so no more Aunts/Uncles. His Cousin by adoption died already. And that's it. My entire family.
My little tiny family is spread from the South coast to the West coast and the bit towards the middle. No-one wants to be in the presence of my Mother.
I couldn't muster 20 people at all. And none of my relatives beyond my bro, my husband and my son can provide me with any kind of support or assistance, either through distance or age (children) or mental infirmity.
There we are! |
