"Is it better to have loved or to have been loved? "
To have loved is far better, for what use is it to be loved, if you know not the meaning or sanctity, of what it means to love in the first place.
ie some one who has only been loved will never understand the meaning to love |

"How is it fair that love is the most painful of emotions? "
Because it's one of the most intense? Because the risk of pain is one of the reasons why it's the most intense? And because part of the exhilaration when it works is knowing it could have hurt but didn't?
Or maybe I'm talking shite. I don't know. |

It’s not.
Love isn’t always fair. I guess that’s the worst thing about it "
We require heart break, in order for it to grow back stronger. God forbid they turn bitter insted. Bitterness is but a conquered heart. And soul. |

Any reason other than to be thought provoking for the post in the first place?
What was your original opinion? |

I trust when people tell me they love me. Until they tell me they don’t or never did. |

I don’t know.
Also, there’s the difference between someone loving you, and being in love with you. |

"How is it fair that love is the most painful of emotions? "
It should not be painful.
Love should be patient and kind. It should not envy or boast. It is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
Love is the common denominator in how we relate to others, or to ourselves.
Love is a tricky word. It’s most often understood as an intense feeling of deep affection.
It can also transcends a feeling or emotion.
If it’s painful, I’d question if it’s love. |

Or until their actions show me the opposite of their words. |

That’s a good reminder. Especially the it does not insist on its own way.
Thank you. That’s a good leveller. |
