"They’d already started on Xmas eve when I did all my present shopping "
You're the winner!
We're "saving" a whole £500 in the "biggest car sale ever"
(Context, we sadly NEED a new car. I don't actually want one). |

Nope. We're waiting for our bank to throw some money at us
Still in a hire car |

The secret is to shop through out the year when you need something and you find it at the right price. Sales are on all the time for different things. Gone are the tradditional seasonal sales as we knew them. All marketing ploys to same low quality stuff most of the time. |

"Not all. I bought three pairs of trousers in the sale yesterday. Admittedly I'm taking two back this afternoon but that's because they don't suit me. All three are genuine reductions
" one out of 3 not bad |

100% this.
The marketing teams are laughing all the way to the bank when they get the hordes piling in for Black Friday and January “sales”. |

Because I bought some clothing I don't need?
I love clothes and I don't count money spent on them as a loss |

Not always. I managed to find a beautiful dress that I'd wanted for some time for 75% off; it's not a cheap knock off line, there weren't any false price inflation beforehand to make me feel like I've got a good deal.
I think if you're sensible, know what you want and what's a bargain and what's not, you can get one. |

Exactly. I paid £6 for a pair of trousers I've had my eye on for some time. I also recently paid £25 for a coat that I'd admired for a while. |

I bought a waterproof coat from an outdoor retailer a few years ago and thought I would get a second one.
I looked at the prices at the start of December and decided to wait for the sales.
Got an email on new years day claiming 70 percent off all sale items and when I went and looked the coat was selling at exactly the same price it had been a month before but now had a little bubble beside it showing that it was £100 below normal RRP. |
