Can you tell by the way they look?

Imagine I’ve tried an app where you swipe left or right …

You know when you just look at someone’s picture of them (or in real person mode) and you immediately judge a book by its cover.( It’s the same here I know, but most of us are naked.)

What’s the most common thought that passes through your mind? And what makes you swipe left more often than not.

Carlisle usually

I tried the swipe one, I sucked at it. Main things for me were enough bio to have a starting point for conversation, at least 3 pictures including a clear shot of their face and an idea of overall look.

If they had monogamy flagged, pictures were not of them or didn't tell me enough, bio was bland, it was a no.

But as long as there wasn't an obvious no, it was worth a right for me.

Usually the eyes and smile for me, if I like them swipe right. Unfortunately it’s not very often I like them

Leeds

It's hard, harder on here with bodies, I find it much easier with a face - nice eyes, nice smile and a write up that sounds positive.

It's hard to judge by looks alone so the bio helps a lot.

I usually read bios on swiping apps before swiping. And on OkC I check their answers to questions and our match %.

It’s important I think they seem like someone I’d be interested in before judging their looks. But I am not looking at their pictures and assuming anything about them other than that they’re attractive to me or not.

Perfect match because they l like them and you don’t?

Or perfect match because you both like/ don’t like them?

Mrs"

I need to read words because I’m terrible at reading too much in a photo. Eg:

Stood on a yacht with a glass of champagne!

On a mountain bike covered in mud

Drinking beer from a cowboy boot.

On a sofa with 3 cats on their lap.

All of them, immediately creates an image with a blurb of their character.

And many don’t write anything.

I think those photos do describe their character quite well without a bio. If a bloke on the swipe app has 3 photos and they're all of him on expensive foreign hols - swipe left.

All you need to decide from a photo is if there’s an attraction. Conversation will sort the rest out.

Manchester (she/her)

When I've messed with those apps, the pictures are the last thing I take into account. Interests and bio first.

I've used a few swipe apps. There has to be some physical attraction or I am neutral about their looks to start with or I will swipe left.

His looks usually turn me off if he looks much older than he is for example.

Do you think people look at profiles and think ‘that person is too attractive to swipe right on me’

No longer use those apps but the bio tended to be the main focus - any ‘text talk’ was an instant ‘no’ regardless of looks.

Using pictures that were obviously at least a decade or so old was another ‘no’, why do that?

Pictures that were only taken with a group of other guys so you had no idea who it was you were meant to be looking at.

A well thought out articulate profile and a kissable pair of lips would more often than not result in swipe right and if they included cycling/triathlon as a hobby, it would be a definite

I was very lucky in my experience and never once encountered anything negative, quite the opposite in fact.

So many things!

No bio or “just ask”

Not smiling in pictures

The instagram perfect princess look

Smokers

Clear incompatibility of interests

Hippies

Only group pictures

Fake everything

Just don’t fancy them

Too far away

An angry list of what I shouldn’t be

Sometimes, briefly, but I still swipe right if I like the look of them. I need to better appreciate my own self worth.

I think I’m too attractive for them.

It’s a joke.
