Some people on the forums are grumpy this evening. I’ve put south west, if someone’s in the north then you are going to know roughly it’s lots miles away. If people want to google debauchery then that’s on them |

If you’re a site supporter it gives you a distance between profiles based on postcode. Also gives a distance between mobile phones based on magic. |

Why would you need to know the accurate location of people you haven't met yet or maybe have no intentions of meeting, & more to the point why would anyone be naive enough to publicise their whereabouts with any kind of precision knowing it can be viewable by all on an open online forum?

I agree....why should someone have to give their precise location.... we're not on the continent....just a small enough Island....
People don't disclose their exact location because of safety & discretion....I'm certain when a connection/chemistry/rapport/trust has being formed with a potential meet exact location will be disclosed then.... |

It gives you the distance in miles on their profile, some like to keep some anonymity.
I don't have my village as my address here because I don't want next door finding me on here or the school mums.
It's not difficult to ask.

Location finder uses GPS, so how would knowing what town they're in make that more useful?
Unless you're spoofing your own GPS location for whatever reason |

Personally I can't see the point in having Hertfordshire on mine like I used to, I still get asked where I'm based. It used to say a certain town but I'd still get asked where I'm based.

I don’t think that’s unusual, just seems practical to me
I’m not in the business of one offs. If I’m gonna take the time to get to know someone, it’s because I want to meet fairly often

Yes we all do it. Although to be fair I've travelled many miles for someone. But I couldn't go that far now as life circumstances have changed. I'd still travel an hour ish each way but further than that is more difficult. I was just answering Woody though, because saying North Manchester isn't specific enough for someone to work out the journey. So that why they'd want more than that before an actual meet. There are places in Hertfordshire that are still an hour from me. |

In all seriousness, I deliberately obscure my location for safety. And I change it all the time. Because I've had problems before and it's not worth encountering those again for the sake of men knowing precisely where I am. If it means I miss out on some guys, that's fine. I state it in my profile just not in the location field so I can't be found where I actually live. |

It might be, but, say "Gleadsmoss" is a tiny place (no I don't live there, nor does anyone I know on Fab, it's something that came up in something unrelated to Fab). If you list your location as there, even with no face pictures, people from the area might be able to connect the dots. |

I recognised my friend and his wife have started a profile on here. Their faces are blurred but you can tell it's them. If they didn't share their location, I'd be none the wiser. |

It’s just mitigating risk
I’ve spotted fab users in Tesco, that was largely helped by the fact a knew from their profile what Tesco they use because there’s only 1 in this town |

The people commenting about risk and safety are all women. Kinda how that works, isn't it? And I don't live in that big a place. And if I'd be the one travelling - it's my choice isn't it? In the first couple of messages I share my actual location. Don't see the issue. |

I actually use my location as a filter, and ok it stated off as amusement during the lockdowns so just kept it, anyone thinking I'm giving out my actual location publicly is most likely not for me it also helps le out those who are only interested because of being local and don't seem to care who they meet as long as they get there jollies, I still have the right county in my location along with the more general area and site supporters can see distance anyway on top of that it gives an insight to an interest of mine |

Last thing anyone with an ounce of common sense should do is make it easier for themselves to be located by the types of sociopathic, sexual weirdos who tend to frequent sites like this in large volume. Especially if you're a woman or transgender. |
