What kind of music are you putting into this category?
I know the original meaning, but it's lost the meaning in the 70's or 80's probably.
Most rockers/metalheads (including me) call anything pop, not played entirely by real instruments.
(Containing a few keyboard riffs or strumming a few guitar chords doesn't make it real)
Techno/Electronic, House, Rap, Hip-hop, Modern R&B(Nothing to do with Rhythm & Blues a long time ago)...etc.
I consider these^ all pop music.

I'd never class pop music as something not played by real instruments..a lot of..techno.. electro stuff....hip hop ..rap..is just as underground as a lot of punk ..metal..rock..you wouldn't hear it on daytime radio.. it's got nothing to do with pop music.. |

It's true since let's say the 80's.
They used to play many genres including rock.
Now it's just crap.
Not an Oasis fan myself either.
