Manchester (she/her)

Knowing what you do, having got through 2020, what would be your panic buys if shit was hitting the fan, but not so bad you couldn't run to the supermarket first?

Some improvising was done in the early months

I buy lentils and rice in bulk, so I'll be ok on that front. ditto bog roll. (Not because I'm hoarding, more because it's nice to not have to think about this shit for ages)

Won’t the lentils go through you really quickly and make you use up all your loo roll?

North East Scotland, mostly

Free from staples - bread and pasta. Having nothing for my allergic child was a genuine fear in March 2020.

I don't find they cause me gastrointestinal distress? They're just a starch for me

Cloud 8

As a single bloke who doesn’t stockpile anything, I found it very frustrating not being able to buy cleaning stuff. I couldn’t wipe my kitchen surface because so many had panic bought boxes of the stuff.

And, despite that, I still wouldn’t bend my philosophy of “Fuck it, I’ll get what I need when I need it.”

As a key worker I’m always allowed out to play anyway.

"Pasta like wtf. Damn pasta thugs!"

This actually really pissed me off too! My son has an eating disorder and pasta is one of the very few things he’ll eat. Trying to find pasta in April 2020 was very testing!

Hand sanitizer

Cleaning products

Having an immunosuppressed child that needed shielding wasn't funny.

Yeast. The bread makers were on the ball, yeast was the first thing to run out everywhere.

Panic buy essentials. I think we in for bad weather. Stock up on loo rolls.

Legit, nothing? I didn't bulk buy anything during Covid... I ran about making sure both my parents had ample supplies of whatever, but I didn't do anything different? I continued working outside of home as not a thing changed... If anything it felt mental going to shops, and forgetting it was all going on?

Literally, nothing changed except having some print off from work in my hand bag stating I was front line or some nonsense
