"So I’m going Manchester for a night out in 2 weeks for my birthday and I’ve never done a night there, any suggestions of places to go? Nightlife?"
The Northern Quarter is a good starting place.
After that depends on what you like to do.
Loads of live music venues
Clubs for any music taste
The gay village is always fun
Axe throwing, fine dining, Mini golf, arcade machines, multi cultural food options and the bars on Deansgate. There's really something for everyone in Manchester.

I think I’m going to check out the pixel bar and maybe then pub crawl/ live music, might check out the comedy store too, just Manchester is so big so if there’s anything more catered to indie/alt music that I should aim to not miss? Or just an area to aim for |

It depends what night, but afaik at the weekend 42s or 42nd street as it used to be known or the Venue are the indie clubs that are left. Younger people than me might know better.
There's also Fab café which is usually an eclectic night.
Bars wise Corbierres has the best jukebox in Manchester, the Salisbury is a legendary rock pub. I'd check to see if there's any gigs at the academy or gorilla too
Have a great time

Satan's Hollow is still there.
Band on the Wall has a whole host of different types of music/events.
Grand Central on Oxford Rd near The Salisbury is also pretty alt. |
