I have just watched this series on TV … and also the ‘real story’ documentary that followed it.

This is genuinely a disgusting story that the Sub postmasters were subjected to by an organisation we have previously thought about as a national institution. Their treatment was outrageous and their struggle is still ongoing to get the recognition they are owed.

The CEO, et al, should be held legally accountable for this … and at the very least be stripped of her award. To say she is a lay priest also is unbelievable!!

What do you fellow Fabbers think??

I think it shows how powerless we all are in the face of the 'authorities' and how little we're thought of.

As the man at the end said "hit them in the pocket it's the only thing they'll understand"

There is an online petition that seems to be snowballing, calling for the CEO to hand back her CBE! It has nearly 700,000 signatures now - and is growing!

I’d better not publish the link, I might get my hands slapped if I did … but it is a 38degrees petition which isn’t hard to search on online.

It should be noted, the chap who relentlessly pursued this campaign, was (quite rightly) offered an OBE a while ago, the least he deserves for 20 years unpaid hard work - but he declined it, whilst the CEO has her gong!

Maybe we can do something here!

It's now 2024, the Police investigation started in 2020. In 4 years they have interviewed 2 people (yes......2) and arrested no one. This so called Police investigation will take even longer than the non investigastion by the Post Office itself.

i have said for years that the CEO's of big companies should be held accountable for the crimes of their companies if found guilty should be sacked and lose their pensions and fined and face jail time maybe then the water companies for example would not dump sewage into the rivers and streams

From a H&S perspective, as we know, senior managers can be held personally culpable where H&S laws are broken - and go to prison! … possibly part of the reason we now live and work in an environment that is now very risk averse … but never the less more safe. Similar rules should be applied to senior managers in industry … though I suspect most of those employed in the city would then swap their pin stripe suits for suits with arrows on them!!

One might think if one were cynical that the government are dragging it out..

Give it the same impetus that they did in shelling out excessively high amounts to some of their friends during the pandemic..

God knows the people wrongly convicted and financially hammered have suffered enough..

And prosecutions for those in the post office who knowingly send people to jail etc for a defective process they well knew about..

Persoally I now refuse to use the Post Office. On it's own it means very little, but, if everybody did the same?

Spent the afternoon watching the drama and could feel the anger rising within me. It’s one of the few times I felt it was a duty to watch it.

I truly hope the victims get proper compensation inc loss of earnings and those in charge get prosecuted.

I agree,they should be punished.

It's scary to think an organisation can have the power to ruin people's lives, bankrupt them and then be able to cover it up.

That they let it drag on for so many years is unforgivable some. Poor souls died without ever seeing the truth come out.

I said when I watched it, I don't understand how some people are so blindly loyal to the organisation they work for, that they let things like this happen to others.

The Post Office has the power to sanction them for gross misconduct and strip them of their pensions. Don't hold your breath.

You might want to note how much of our money they wasted protecting themselves rather than investing it in the service

What it shows is a reliance on computer data at the expense of people's lives, honesty & knowledge to do a job & be relied upon by the community as a figure of trust.

Sounds familiar somehow.

Strange how it takes a docudrama to shame a government into doing right thing.

(Not meaning to be political, just an observation from hearing radio news earlier)

While the Post Office is rightly in the firing line for the total clusterfuck they made during this entire shambles- Fujitsu seem to currently be able to hide in the shadows for not only delivering a sub standard system for the millions spent on it, but fucking up continuously with covering up the faults and also blatantly lying and blocking any progress towards the truth. They should also be dragged arse backwards through a world of shite over all this

because the police investigation has been put on hold whilst the current public enquiry takes place which is standard procedure

It's worth noting that several CEOs were involved in this, not just one. The others seem to be escaping scrutiny and are not the subjects of petitions etc. How's about the one in charge when the Horizon system was actually being implemented? Or the ones who oversaw the condemnation of some sub postmasters/mistresses originally? Some convictions date back to 1999!

While I don't dispute the view, this case has little to do with government and everything to do with the Post Office and Fujitsu.

Both covered up the software problem, the Post Office pursued it's own staff to prison, bankruptcy and suicide.
