Do you call people out or avoiding confrontation, when you think it's bullshit or inappropriate?

I mean it in general, if it affects you in any way or really against your values.

(Fab or real life situations)

*

1. It bothers me, but let someone else do it.

*

2. I tell off people only, if I don't like them already.

*

3. I tell off people saying something inappropriate/lying/bullying, regardless I like them or not.

*

4. I join in, if I don't like that person either / Have the same views

*

5. Going with the crowd, whichever side is that

*

6. I just get some popcorn and watch

*

7. I express my dislike, if it affects me or someone else badly. It might make me unpopular, but I stand up for my valus no matter what.

*

8. Ignore in future/telling off the person calling out the other.

It's causing drama and I just want peace and hang out with my mates.

***************************************

Which one of the 8 options is you?

Feel free to make up your own option, if none of them describes you exactly.

Depends how much I disagree with something or how much I think it's out of order.

Is it worth the hassle?

If so yes I'll call out the bull, if not I'll go my merry way.

Context is key.

Fab - generally tend to ignore and move away from the post. Block people as I see fit. Only on the very odd occasion will I argue.

Real life - I will call it out if it requires it but otherwise distance myself from the person/s involved.

I tend to only get hugely annoyed over my family/friends being insulted or bullied and a few other topics that trigger me.

I dislike arguing if it can be avoided.

I generally call them out. I don’t see it as confrontational at all. If they want to then that’s on them and they shouldn’t talk shit in the first place

I'm never going to choose an option OP, thought I'd make that clear. It's not me.

The forums? I try and ignore it the majority of the time. I'd love to one day gleefully pull apart the ridiculousness, the hypocrisy etc that I see at times but then I can't be arsed and it's such negative energy.

If people are bullying, regardless of who I'd call it out. That's not being confrontational, that's just not thinking being a shit is okay.

I'm more likely to do it with people I like/or are friends. In part, that's because I'm comfortable enough to do so. It's also because they don't think me calling out one thing of BS is me saying I hate them forever. The inability to understand you can dislike someone's BS at a time but not hate them? I'll never understand that.

Bullying? I will call out every time.

Bullshit, misinformed, uninformed statements with a claim to be THE truth?

I will call out if I think there is a small chance the person is capable of more, of understanding that really they are talking bullshit.

If there is no realistic chance of being heard, listened to and just being bombarded with more bull... I don't bother.

I will always stand against something I think is wrong because not everyone has the ability to stand up for themselves and it's the responsibility of all in a community to stand for those who can't. I hate seeing people get bullied or women/men getting physically intimidated and will always intervene, if got my ass handed to me a few times but it's worth it to give the other person a chance to get out of there.

One person's bully is another's ventriloquist dummy.

One person's BS is another's manna from heaven.

There are people I consider to be forum bullies but many are happy to accept it as just bants. I can't be arsed calling that out because they'll just stomp their foot and spit their dummy out while shouting victim at the top of their fingers.

It always amuses me how many grown adults are happy to congratulate the emperor on his new clothes rather than state the obvious and become irrelevant.

Yes, banter and bullying depends on the context and the people are involved.

Think gauging your audience with banter helps, some people will get wound up if they don't know your style etc. Bullying is never the intention with banter, although I'm sure there are some malicious people that go down that route

I try to tactfully tell somebody if they have a negative trait that harms them.

Most people I know won't be honest with people because they want an easy life and they want to remain in their tribe.

But

If you care about somebody and you see that they have negative behaviours that affect their life or push people away from them, i think you should be honest with them.

I'd hate to see somebodies life spiral because I didn't want them to get pissed off at me for pointing something out.

I'm not saying my opinion is always right and I should always be listened to, but some people clearly exhibit damaging behaviors, and whilst other will gossip behind their back, I'd rather be the bad guy that tells them how they come across, if they want to cut me off then that's on them.

People I don't know like on here? I don't know enough about them what they are going through or their history to comment.

Unless they are blatantly being a massive dickhead to someone for no reason, its none of my business.

Personally I think its relative to said situation.

Somewhere in Co. Down

I tend to give my opinion on here about things. Yes I have said when I completely disagree with someone on here and I don't follow any crowd on here so what I post is entirely my own opinions.

As for bullying I have seen pile on sometimes deserved sometimes not .Sometimes it's a pile on because someone who is considered popular has had someone disagree, and you see all their buddies jump in to defend them. I've seen people pull the bullying card when they purposely start threads they know will explode. Then when people disagree they get labeled bullies.

Personally I think it's pretty hard to be bullied on here unless you are involved in all the background drama and bullshit that goes on. It's easy to ignore and block those you don't like or those who try and wind you up and yes I'm speaking from experience, because my opinions often do not go with the popular crew I have been on the receiving end of crap. It doesn't bother me as they are people I have no intention of interacting with or meeting. I just ignore them and they get bored pretty fast.

It does surprise me though how grown adults act like a pack of vindictive teenagers at time though on here and revel in the drama. But it's fab and that will never change.

In the meantime I will continue to post when and where I want.

My golden rule that i try to stick to is don't give it to people that don't give it.

I absolutely love banter and going back and forth with people so personally I really enjoy it when someone gives me a bit of grief because that allows me to do it back.

It's a sign of affection for me, if I don't like someone I don't engage with them. People I mug off a little it's to try and initiate some back and forth with.

But it's very hard to do this over text as it's not obvious.

I never try and do it to offend people, if I think I have offended them I apologise.

The person doing this with you could be doing it as a sign off affection.

Some people don't know when to stop though.

For me if I'm joking with someone and they don't back it's a sign that they arnt that type of person or I've offended them, that's my cue to leave it.

If this person is bothering you then I'd just reach out via pm and tell them. The person could just be a dick in general, or they genuinely might think you are laughing on the other side of the phone because in their mind it's a sign of affection?

If I think they’re talking shit, I’ll call it out.

If I think they’ve already dug a big enough hole… I’ll leave them to it, because someone else is probably already giving them an ear full. Which leads me to -

Bullying (and I mean real bullying and not where some snowflake can’t take a bit of flack!!! ) I will rip them a new one, if I see or read that type of crap. I hate bullying. .

There’s lots of things I could have called out at the time but didn’t. Usually cos I can’t be bothered with the drama and don’t actually care enough to get involved.
