"....and a monstrous fine for forging modern currency.... "

just glue them together and don't spray them gold...doubt there'd be a problem then as they are not in current use...and I don't think it is against the law to use alternatives to £1 coins in supermarket trollies as there are plenty of trolley coins around

I think using the token on my keyring is probably a lot less fiddly than finding two old 5 pences and glueing them together (without glueing my fingers together too!)

Go to customer service in Tesco.

Tell them you have no cash only your cards.

They will give you a token as long as you tell them you will take it back.

Got 2 in the car now

long time ago whilst serving in the RAF in germany we used to bring loads of shilllings back as they were the same size as a german mark the fag machines took them so for 15p you could get a packet of fags on the train station

In the 60s my uncle worked in Germany, and would take £s worth of shillings back with him.

He would get stamps out of machines and use them in shops as currency.

20 Marks for a £1 was a great exchange rate.

This

The mark was at about 4.20 to the pound at the time as well. The phone boxes took them as well so phoning home was well cheap
