Just entering the big scary world of job hunting.
I'm not unemployed or going to be, I just feel I need a change of role and company. Company is great, just don't feel I can progress further.
How long have you been in your current role or company?

Good luck
I’ve been in this job for a year at the end of this month. Complete change of sector and role. But needed to do something else, similarly for better opportunities to progress going forward. I am sure I’ll change again |

Good luck! It’s always best to look in the position you’re in - not unemployed or in need of a source of wages.
I’ve been at the same place for 16 years this year but before that I left a company where I was told my idea would not be profitable. Started my own business. Ironically, my former company became my first clients. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

"Been in my current job for nearly a year, was made redundant from my last one, unemployed for 2 years, applied for 1000's "
That must have been very difficult for. Glad you got onev and hope you are enjoying it. |

You're in the best position for looking about you while you're still employed, and good luck finding your next job
I've been in my current place for 4 months but I'll change again in April all being well. I normally get a 3 year itch, but the place I'm hoping to start with in April I feel I would be happy to look at it as a permanent move ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

23 years and had 25 in a poorer role. So glad I made the change, so few reevaluate I'm on twice the wages and more respect |

I had about 10 jobs since 1998.
( Not counting money in pocket seasonal jobs in my younger years)
Shortest 2 years, longest almost 12 years.
Had 3 jobs since 2007 (Moved to the UK) *11+*3+*1+ years.
Current one is less than 2 years.
Sometimes I would need the change, but just compromise until I can't take it anymore.
Looks good on CV though.

Good for you, I was told I wasn't clever enough years ago, but started a multi million turnover IT company years back. Now happy to work somewhere less stressful. ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

Been here nearly 30 years not moved up because would mean I'd have to talk to people and it would be a drop in wages so no point having enough stress as it is. |

Was made redundant April 2022, got a better paying job with big company in a week, redundant on a Friday, work Monday. Stayed 8 mths , hated my micro manager boss, quit before Xmas. Xmas off and looking from today. Agency offered me a job back with my old company with a hour for a lot more money unfortunately cause I was made redundant I'm not eligible till after 1 year. Know your worth, there is lot of work out there. |

I've been in the same sector almost 17 years, work different roles/departments in healthcare.
I would love a big change, I just don't know where to start though.
Good luck op, I hope you find something right for you. |

" I was in public sector for the longest time. All parts. It is so easy to stay there and just collect your wage at the end of the month.
The best people move on and the ones that aren't good enough to move on, stay. There are no bonuses or much opportunity for progression.
I jumped ship and went to a private company at the start of 2023 and it's the best move I have ever made. A boutique consultancy but it's so awesome. |

"I was a permy for many years.
Now self-employed - the best move I ever made.
I enjoy the flexibility and diversity that each role brings.
And the money is better.
Dinner is on you "
The bacon butties are at least. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I've been in my place of work just over a year and just been promoted to a role with more responsibility. I didn't really want it but I'll see how it goes. |

I’ve had some really exciting jobs, real Men’s dreams kind of roles but changed at beginning of September for my current role.
Took a significant pay cut but I get to work from home and the benefits are great.
Overall it’s an improvement. Not always about chasing the big bucks. Need to be happy as well.

Although you just know when it’s time to change jobs and I guess your industry might be safe job wise
Good luck |

The sector that the company is in will never disappear, maybe be bought out nothing more.
Just not seeing any prospects within the current position/area. |

....down the Rabbit Hole with a shotgun |
3 or 4 years now I've been in my current gig and wouldn't change it for anything. I wish I had come across it in my 20's.
Previous to that I was in the Auto Industry for 10 years - an absolute woke politically correct midden of egoist fuckwits, backstabbers and blame shifters. Don't do it!!!!
Prior to that I was in IT, retail and also the not very Civil Service.
Get yourself on LinkedIn, build your relationships on there and it could well bring you that dream job. |

I’ve been with the company for 19 years and potential redundancies for my role before April.
It’s bloody scary as hell but I’ve already updated my CV and circulated to recruitment agencies.
Good luck OP you’ve got this x |

The place I work 5 years, but the actual job role itself its almost 18 years doing this part of my job. I also branched out and trained in a new role alongside this current one 18 months ago and fully qualified in that role last June.
