Never understood why people lie on these sites… lie about their pictures or about themselves or even I’m only interested in you I’m not chatting to others…. Always makes me laugh …

I think some people think that lying will get then an easy lay by making the other hear or see what they want to hear or see, it end up backfiring when the person is discovered lying though. Personally I dont see the point, honesty is the key. |

I think some people think that lying will get then an easy lay by making the other hear or see what they want to hear or see, it end up backfiring when the person is discovered lying though. Personally I dont see the point, honesty is the key."

People will be people which is frustrating. More annoying when people get rude or abusive just when you say you’re not interested. Also had my pics copied with a false profile. Does get frustrating x |

I agree 100%.
People live in a fantasy world, many will never actually meet someone from here ( but like the idea) and reinvent themselves as what they’d like to be.
I couldn’t think of anything worse than finally meeting someone and their face drop because I didn’t look anything like I’d claimed or my pictures.
Then again, I lack filters…

A question I've thought of many times over the years I've been on here. There are many reasons of course but I always feel the two main ones are...
1) Fantasy - people get a kick out of being this "other" character (or characters even) they enjoy playing.
2) Competition - especially for solo men on here and many will be economic with the truth in a bid to gain (they hope) an advantage.

People lie about everything on sites like this and dating sites. They say what think will get them what they want because they feel there is less chance of being found out.
Sad truth is that even claiming to honest in most cases is more often a lie. People even tell lies to try and raise themselves above others if they think it will give them an advantage.
Many red flags but one for me is those claim "thats not me it is all the others"
In the end its all about imagery and something i know quite a bit about. We all put on the face we want people to see, most cases the one we think will get us what we want.
Reading between the lines as they say, what is unsaid can be more revealing than what is said.
Goes with the territory - being on site like this i guess we hope we may get see through the facade, and occasionally the truth will reveal itself. |

People lie on here because everyone is anonymous so it's easier and the chances are you aren't going to be found out. Unfortunately I've become so cynical that I take the view that everyone who I chat with is lying in some way or another and it's up to me to find out what bits are the truth. |

Some people wouldn't know the truth if it smacked them between the eyeballs, they still lie.
People also forget once messages get sent you are able to keep copies and no matter what they say afterwards, you can still see everything you got messaged originally.
Makes no logical sense then to deny it, but they still do. |

Is it lying or marketing yourself ?
Same reason politicians lie to the voters. People lie on their CV and in job interviews.
They learn being truthful leads to less success. Same on here I guess, the truth will put them down the pecking order, particularly men. Woman can afford to be less imaginative.. |

My dad used to say some people can't lie straight in bed & it's true.
On here it's obviously to get something they wouldn't get if they were honest.
If someone on here bends the truth with me, they become someone I'd never meet or trust automatically. |

It's laughable at times especially when they claim I'm the only one they are talking to because they don't trust anyone else on fab.
Strangely though they also have the inside scoop on everything going on here and know everyone else's business.

Why do people lie. Because they’re going through a selfish stage, and that lie will only benefit them nobody else.
I keep those lies as far from me as possible, they can sort that shit out themselves. |

The usual view is that people lie to get something they want. I disagree. I think when people lie it’s to distance themselves from something difficult for themselves. It’s a disassociation with an uncomfortable fact. |

I agree with most of the posts here. People seem to have unrealistic expectations and get very disappointed when they don’t find what they are looking for. This may lead to the lies and untruths. It’s a bit sad that we can’t even try be real with people that share your lifestyle choices.

1. It's learnt behaviour and probably stems from childhood. Lying then becomes the norm as they grow up knowing that truthfulness doesn't always get them what they wanted so they become experts at telling people what they think they want to hear  .
2. To some degree we all have an online persona to reflect and at times some people embellish or are economical with the truth a bit to maintain that.
3. Some people's moral compass is 100% honesty
4. If there online and not chatting to you chances are they may be chatting to others

I believe in honesty, if I lied I would be lying to myself and I'd be fake , but unfortunately alot of guys will lie to get a head this tactic sadly does work and unfortunately it puts a negative light on real guys on here , the problem with lieing is you'll eventually get figured out so logically there's no actual point in lieing to begin with , just complicates things. |
