"Who likes spending money on feeding birds and is there any benefit?"
My birds that pop in not eating them. More for my seeds. They do at times eat the balls. Not sure why they not.. Maybe they do when out. Of course feeding our birds is part of our ecosystem. |

We make our own.
We get alot less birds in the gardens now though as the lovely green fields at the back of ours have now been built on.
A win for social housing, 100 houses & flat added, all council owned. But a loss for wildlife. Birds, bat's, hedgehogs all pretty much disappeared. Still lots of foxes though |

I have wood pidgeons, swallows nothing else. Housing has destroyed many of what you said. |

I did this during lockdown. The little blighters would eat all the food in one sitting and then fecked off to another garden.
We do have a regular squirrel (Mr Tibbs) that visits our garden every year and we have a Robin who visits too. The Robin came as close as my feet when i was pottering about one time. That was quite awesome, I felt like Snow White. |

Yes. I have 2 bird feeders outside my bedroom window that I keep topped up and almost every day I get the joy of watching the sparrows come and feast. Sometimes other things too, tits, magpies even. I've deliberately left the hedge up the side of the garden to, they seem to like it in there and it helps keep them around I leave bits and pieces to go to seed for them in autumn too and in the summer I've got a patch of alpine strawberries I leave uncovered they can have at. There are brambles in the alley behind the house too and I don't cut it back until the birds have had at all the fruits. I do what I can for birds, I take great joy in watching them. |

"My tits aren't into fat balls"
It took a little while for the thread to get going, but I now detect a change.
I thought it would be fun to pick a title which would attract the curious on a dull day like this. It is a shame that Fab doesn't use a 'views' counter.
Back in the days when most of my male friends were swayed by lads' culture, if any of them came to my front door during daylight, I would say to them in a conspiratorial stage whisper "Quick, come and look at the tits on this bit of stuff out at the back".
When they had rushed through the kitchen full of expectation, only to view a chicken carcass dangling, I would mutter "Damn, they have flown away".
Needless to say, this trick only worked once on each guest. |

I've no idea what you mean. The tits in my garden prefer other food. |
