Car insurance claim time complications

Okay.. back in May, I scratched someone's paint on their rear bumper while parking.

I considered giving him my home address, number and settle it without insurance company but he was hysterical unfortunately and thought better not.

Anyway... It's now the end of the year and still Heard nothing back after being told a claim went in.

I was told by the insurance company that cars are booked for repairs by the severity of damage, rather than by the chronilogical order the cars are damaged. The damage was very light.. so not sure when it'll be sorted.

I've had to declare the damage and the ringdenced amour of £800 which has bumped up the price of renewal by 200 quid.

Not sure if there's anything I can do like take it to an ombudsman or something ..?

I've googled but not much luck

your just on a waiting game

but you can ask how the claim is proceeding

the question im having to ask you is did you take a photo of the damage at the time and submit it to your insurance.

there is people out there that do try a fast one by claiming alot more against you than you may think with it being insurance pays out

to be honest i think alot of silly scratches shouldnt be claimed upon and insurance should really start blocking them.

its not really a bump or crash and some people have become way to pathetic.

Yes I got pics. Plus him standing around just incase.

He was hysterical and demanding a pic of my driving licence too. Plus his English wasn't good.

Got pics of the scratches on his car. Not easy to see them. Have to zoom in a bit.

he might have tried a fake claim then.

not saying that he has done but its always possible and your pics back what you have said to your insurance.

not much you can do really otherwise ask how that claim is going on and if its been settled upon.

however i do wish that they would tell the truth if they have settled the claim or if there claim has been cancelled.

only then have you the right for the extra payment to be paid back and claim against you to be forgotten as its a no claim against you.

If the claim isn’t settled then it won’t be counted in this years insurance as I understand it. Defo contact your insurance company and ask their advice.

Also, your premium has gone up but are you sure it’s because of this claim? They have gone up vastly this year. Mine went from just under £300 to over £500 and nothing had changed in the year except me and the vehicle being a year older. Same address, same vehicle, same job, same marital status, same miles etc prices have really hiked this year.

Good luck, hope you get a decent outcome and a reduction in premium and hope I’m wrong in your case on the price hike!

Yes, I was driving it as a named driver at the time then took our new insurance when I bought the car in August.

After checking, I had to put it down as not settled, and use the " ringfenced" £800 reserved amount in the search engine.. on go compare after checking.

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

Contact your insurance company and report it as either a fake claim or an exaggerated bill for damage.
