Good win for Hammers but I thought the Gunners were very unlucky with a few calls and actually played well. Good to see Brighton back to their absolute best. They absolutely battered Spurs.

Spurs played without doubt the worst 45 minutes of the season so far. They didn't look at it until they were already 4-0 down and yet somehow looked like they might nick a point. Brighton were hanging on in stoppage time.

Your team will win even if they dont turn up.

The ref/VAR decisions this season are the worse ever.

Well done on winning the league again this year.

Maybe one day the refs and FA will grow some balls.

About 3 feet away from the fence

The holiday football fixtures continue this weekend with a full programme over the next few days, before the FA Cup & winter break interrupts the league for 2 weeks.

In the 12:30 kickoff, a relegation 6-pointer between Luton Town & Chelsea at Kenilworth Road.

Chelsea managed only their 7th win of the campaign in midweek, after edging to a 2-1 win at home to Crystal Palace. Beleaguered manager Mauricio Pochettino will be encouraged by aspects of the performance against Palace, and will welcome Raheem Sterling & Cole Palmer back into the fold, both of whom set to return from their suspensions.

Chelsea have conceded 59 goals in this calendar year, which is the most they've conceded in the clubs entire history.

Apparently they conceded 68 in 1991, but everyone knows Chelsea didn't exist before 2003.

Luton Town are going for their 3rd win in a row this afternoon, after recent wins against Newcastle & Sheffield United.

Luton's 1st team squad is currently valued at £73m, which is £927m less than what the Chavs spent on players in the last transfer window alone.

So in the evening game, a meeting between 2 former European Cup winners living shamelessly off past glories, as Nottingham Forest "entertain" Manchester United at the City Ground.

It's rare these days Man Utd come into a fixture as the more 'cultured' footballing side of the 2 teams, but on this occasion, with Forest being managed by arch-pragmatist, Mourinho-without-the-'rizz' Nuno Espirito Santo, this is one of the only times in the season that you'll remember that Erik Ten Hag is actually Dutch.

The question is will Ten Hag remember what his starting lineup was in their last game (an unlikely 3-2 comeback win against Champions League pretenders Aston Villa), such is his tendancy to change the team every week? Will Garnacho play on the right hand side again where he was so effective vs Villa , or be unceremoniously moved back to the left to make way for Antony, who in 20 appearances this season is yet to register a single goal or assist?

Who will play at centre back alongside Evans this week? Will Mctominay be recalled to the starting lineup for literally no reason whatsoever?

The one thing about Ten Hag, is at least his team selections are entertaining, even if the football is not.

And now for some stats

- Manchester United are 8 points worse off than they were at the same stage of last season. Trusting the process

- Defeat today would mean that Manchester United would have lost 14 matches before the new year, their most in a season since 1930-31.

Predictions :

Luton 2-0 Chelsea

Aston Villa 3-2 Burnley

Crystal Palace 1-3 Brentford

Man City 4-0 Sheffield United

Wolves 1-0 Everton

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Man Utd

Antony is one of those players on my “bit what does he actually do” list…. Especially with Jadon sancho there…( if I was arteta I’d put in a cheeky 30 million bid for him.. just because I think that is how much ETH has ruined him!)

Anyway… top of my “but what does he actually do….” List for ages was Jordan Henderson! I still don’t see it… other notables were hernan crespo (there was one for the kids)

Or irrational hatred of footballers is a great topic! I still hate filipo inzaghe… that man was unless but the amount of goals he scored from 1 yard out.. or use to go in off his backside still makes me mad!

Not only that, but they're actually near or at the bottom of the table on many factors. I saw this on Sky Sports last night...

Goals Scored : 22 (18/20)

xG Performance : -7.4 (19/20)

Shot Conversion : 7.8% (20/20)

1st Half Goals : 6 (19/20)

The last one for 1st half goals in particular... It shows you how poor they're set up tactically every game.

I called it yesterday, that Garnacho would be shunted back on the left to make way for Antony, as if the villa game never happened. Garnacho is rubbish as well don't get me wrong, but at least he's direct. Antony...what does he actually do?

Why would you move an in-form player out of the position where he showed the most form, to accommodate 21 appearances 0 goals & 0 assists?

Then, Ten Hag substituted Mainoo for Mctominay, for tactical reasons 45 mins playing a midfield of Mctom, Eriksen & Bruno - by choice.

Anyone still backing this manager needs their head examined.

Here's another stat

- Bruno Fernandes lost possession 28 times vs Nottingham Forest, which was 8 more times than any other player on the pitch, including the opponents.

. Once Hojlund was taken ill the front 3 had to be changed.ETH options were Diallo , Pellistra , Antony , Garnacho for the wide positions.Rashford was always going to be moved from the left wing to centre forward.Given the options ETH had for the wide and who would be most effective / comfortable playing left or right I feel he made the right call. However I do not agree with ETH for taking of our only #6 and bring on McTominay for tactical reasons. Now for the controversial thing I think ETH should be backed until the end of next season. In my eyes he has enough credit in the bank to be judged up to next season based on last seasons achievements and the potential of 3-4 of our younger players to step up and become big players.I know the plenty of people will think I need my head examined and that’s fine but I honestly feel there is nothing to be gained by sacking him at the end of this season or before.

Beans, as deflection goes that's a predictable response..

Can't fault the stats though..

Good win for Spurs eventually, but another very hit-&-miss performance against an in-form Bournemouth team who controlled the game for large periods. In the end it was only the quality of the players that was the difference, and Spurs were just more clinical in front of goal, but it was easy to see why Bournemouth have done so well. They're no mugs.

With all the injuries (and now with even more injuries after today), to be only 3 points off the top of the league is certainly well above-expectations.

With players missing through yet more injury & international tournaments, January is just about getting through it without losing too much points, luckily both of Spurs league games next month are very winnable

"Once Hojlund was taken ill the front 3 had to be changed.ETH options were Diallo , Pellistra , Antony , Garnacho for the wide positions.Rashford was always going to be moved from the left wing to centre forward.Given the options ETH had for the wide and who would be most effective / comfortable playing left or right I feel he made the right call. However I do not agree with ETH for taking of our only #6 and bring on McTominay for tactical reasons. Now for the controversial thing I think ETH should be backed until the end of next season. In my eyes he has enough credit in the bank to be judged up to next season based on last seasons achievements and the potential of 3-4 of our younger players to step up and become big players.I know the plenty of people will think I need my head examined and that’s fine but I honestly feel there is nothing to be gained by sacking him at the end of this season or before."

Could he not have tried Antony on the left? It's not as though playing him in his preferred position is bearing any fruit, he never beats his man on the outside & gets crosses in.

Maybe he might more effective coming inside onto his right. If he had any crossing ability, it wouldn't be missed anyway when you have Rashford playing through the center, who is not a traditional #9 in any way.

I'm also not convinced he would have kept Garnacho on the right even if Hojlund was fit.

You've seen him change a successful combination before, like for example against Liverpool, when he basically stumbled on the idea of a double CDM pivot by accident due to Bruno's suspension, and the very next game vs West Ham he goes right back to the Bruno/Mctominay + exposed #6 thing that hasn't worked for him all season.

Like you said, he did it again vs Forest & exposed Eriksen. Mctominay & Bruno are the most horrible midfield pairing I've seen for a long time.

IMO it's obvious Ten Hag is just winging it. The way the league table is, top 4 is still very much up for grabs & for me that would be a good enough reason to sack him.

. As you pointed out playing Antony in his preferred position has not bearing any fruit so trying him on the left there is nothing to lose. I don’t think ETH would have changed the positions of the front 3.Against Liverpool Bruno suspension meant we were never going to open up against them so the double pivot of Mainoo & Amrabat with McTominay as a hybrid #8 #10 worked. I am not sure why Amrabat hasn’t played since the Liverpool game injury or saving himself for the African Cup of Nations. As you may remember from some of my other comments I feel that Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes is our best midfield 3 but going forward Mainoo will no doubt stake a claim for Casemiro or Eriksen place.Yes top 4 is up for grabs but even if we don’t finish in the top 4 I still would not sack ETH this season but our board and some of our supporters and yourself probably would.

Let’s see if forest and Everton get charged with breaking sustainability rules for last season…

There is no way you can give Everton 2 10 point deductions in one season! Even I think that’s unfair!!!

Also.. it’s really turning the screw on the upcoming Chelsea and Man City cases…

Anyone else intrigued by the Jordan Henderson saga. I kind of like the way he wanted out... And rather than sit on his fat contract for ages like most seem to do... He moved and paid the price. Fair play to him. I'm sure ajax aren't paying him 750k a week.

. Yes I think we will be ok.As good as Maidstone win was if VAR had been in operation I don’t think Maidstone winner would have been given and I personally felt Ipswich should have had a penalty in the 2nd half although the way Maidstone goalkeeper played he probably would have saved it.

couple, us we him her.

Probably going to be a season defining game today not an absolute decider as city will have two games in hand but certainly make or break for The Arsenal and could cause Liverpool to stutter.

Come on You GUNNERS!

Have we ever beaten Liverpool twice in the league in the same season?

2 questions for the football masses today…

1) where do you stand on the celebration police? Were arsenal rightly or unfairly criticised

2) the blue card! 10 minutes sin bins…. Good or bad idea?

Op, Oi, you've forgotten 5:30 pm kick offs....

I'm a Forest fan, we play Newcastle. If we can beat Man Utd then we can beat them. I think Chris Woods was injured I saw the other day but, you never know.

They've got a new loan goalie with an option to buy - Matz Sels so hopefully performances will improve... Will he be playing? Will he be any good?

. 1 - As a Man Utd fan I feel Arsenal were unfairly criticised if you can’t celebrate a big win how you want then I feel something is wrong there. 2 - Blue card I see no harm in giving it a try although with so much time wasting that there is in football now a days will be interested to see if there is a stadium timer that shows you the game has stopped the way I see in 6 nations & Rugby World Cup

As a red I think there's no issues with how Arsenal celebrated the win, think Carragher was probably tongue in cheek to deflect from how poor Liverpool were..

Daft idea to bring in another card, if they want to bring in the sun bin then do so on the yellow, they can be accumulated etc as yellows currently are..

Would possibly work if the sin bin yellow was for deliberate foul play as opposed to contact from just being late which might not merit a time out..

Teams will soon sort their shit out if they go down one or two players..

At the moment it's just a £25k? fine as Arsenal got from last Sunday..

Big game for the Cockney Reds today away to Aston Villa who are 8 points ahead of us.In the race for 4th Tottenham are 9 points ahead of us but today is ours and Aston Villa game in hand.In years gone by Villa Park has been a happy hunting ground for us and I feel if we can score first we can go onto to win.

Yikes I wouldn't like to live anywhere close to that stadium today.

West ham fan's are known to smash up stuff on their own manor!

Be good to see arsenal go for the jugular and smash in a few more as it's looking more and more likely that it could come down to goal difference at the end of the season.

Nah… Westfield is too nice of a shopping centre for them to smash up.. and West Ham fans would have well left Stratford station before arsenal fans even leave the olympico!

I want to see some of the youngsters get game time….

Back in Malice

Just got back in from the biggest home defeat in my near 59 years on this planet. We were abject, The Arse were superb. Special would of praise for #41 - a man of true personal class and a world class player.

The poster above who says that we smash up our own area has got us confused with the Great Unwashed the other side of the Thames. We’ve been known to smash up the away fans, never the area.
