I may have told this story before.
Mickey Rourke spent a lot of time in the Cardiff/Newport area some years ago. He was planning to make a film about Gareth Thomas, the rugby player who’d come out as gay a few years earlier (sounds terrible, I know).
He was out in Newport, a legendarily full-on place at night. He was standing outside a pub with his minder, who rolled his eyes as he saw a noted local “character” coming up the street.
He tried hiding Rourke and himself away, but was spotted. The guy crossed the road and eagerly shook Rourke’s hand. As he did so, he yelled: “Mickey, I loved you in 9 1/2 weeks; I just wanted to say a sincere thanks for all the great wanks” .
Mickey laughed, apparently  . |
