Well done OP! My Christmases have always been sober but the temptation can't be easy to deal with for those who have stopped drinking with how ingrained in the culture of Christmas alcohol is. Good luck to everyone else wanting to stay sober over the festive period

I’ll probably be sober. I’m not “teetotal” but I hardly drink.

No particular reason. Just not bothered about alcohol.

Amazing how many people binge drink at Christmas. Trolleys full of alcohol in the supermarket earlier! Madness

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

I rarely drink nowadays, since being diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago. My mum always buys me a bottle of whisky for Christmas. I told her not to this year, as I've not opened last year's bottle, due to not yet finishing the bottle from Christmas 2021!

It looks like an off-licence here, though. It was my birthday on Friday, and I've gained 2 bottles of wine, some bottles of beer, and a bottle of Kraken Black Cherry rum - which I am having a small gkass of right now, and that's it. Tomorrow I have to collect my parents and drive them to my brother's for dinner, then drive them back home again so I won't be drinking. I'll have a small whisky tomorrow night when back home.

Hmm. I'll have some procescco tomorrow - i brought a bottle of amarone with me, but I'm not sure I'll drink it - am debating doing 6 months no alcohol.

My dad and MIL were alcoholics so I don't have a good relationship with alcohol

There is a long lay by on the uphill stretch leading to friends where I am going tonight. It often hosts tax checks, red diesel checks, etc. haven't seen them doing breath tests but there is always a first time.

Won't be safe on the way back, either, because the corresponding lay by on the homeward trip probably won't have any lorries parked there for a few days, thus making space for a team to operate.

Yes, me. I rarely drink anyway but need to be able to jump in the car and go if my Dad needs anything. And I've never really "got" the whole drinking at home thing.
