"A nativity was something never done in my primary. We did have a school show where I was a Martian though.
Little boy did his nativity a few years ago and he was a shepherd."

Thank goodness my school didn't do them. Whereas I've had to sit through far too many of the blasted things since having children. My children have been various parts, a shepherd, a star, the innkeeper, this year the youngest was a villager. I'm just grateful I didn't have to supply a donkey or sheep costume |

Listening to PM on radio four last week commented that at their children’s nativity play, the shepherds had a fallout on stage and got to fighting over who should carry the doll, and baby Jesus ended up in the audience, |

"I was the narrator in one, and a door-stop in another. (Yes, that well known nativity character, the door-stop...)
What was the costume?"
If I recall correctly, it was grey or brown trousers and tshirt, to resemble a wooden block or a rock. I held that door open like a goddamn pro. |

I literally stood there with a stick and a star on it!
Lots of “screen time “ though "
Good point. I might have had the spotlight on me for a while. And I think the cast pointed to me. Too. |

One of the Three Wise Men (every year, so probably carried all gifts at some point as I was a very versatile actor).
As one of the few non-white faces in primary school, casting was pretty literal... |
