Are you an overthinker?
Do you replay past situations over and over again, plagued by 'what ifs' or regrets, or spend a lot of time worrying about an event in the future – even an insignificant or imagined one? |

Not usually, but I've been overthinking work this weekend, but that's because I'm concerned about it.
I often don't think enough and am more spontaneous in life. |

Massively, both of us. Especially over thinking what to most people are insignificant or not even noticed things. I afford way to much time and energy over thinking on stuff that doesn't warrant it. To the extent its draining and can make stuff that shouldn't awkward become awkward. |

I overthink at times, but I'm kind of happy that I do. I don't think about 'what ifs', or 'I should have said/done this or that', but I will replay events in my head several times so that I'm ready for any future developments that may arise. The same goes for future events, I like to be prepared. |

Yup I do, part of having BPD. It can be a right shit show when do to. Starts with me trying to make sense of how I feel about something which then often spirals into a deep well of negative thoughts and feelings |

I'm a huge overthinker I don't have regrets about the past though as shitty as my past was and it was a huge pile of shit it's a huge part of me and shaped me to who I am now, I may not be overly 100% happy with myself but I've come a long way considering the past & that's something I'm proud of.

I get told regularly that a over think things, and preparing for how I'm going to deal with situations that are very unlikely to occur. However my answer to that is that I like to be like the guy who buys his condoms two at a time, that way I'm always one jump ahead! |

I think I’m the complete opposite. I like to decide fast, move on & rarely revisit.
I mean, I deliberate & consult on the big stuff of course but not for longer than necessary & still own it even if going against advice. |

When it comes to making decisions or the future - not at all. I make decisions quickly and adapt if necessary. But when it comes to shit that has already happened I am a massive over thinker and regularly put 2 and 2 together and come up with 46 |

Past situations, no. If I'm unsure about something or it's not quite sitting right with me, then yes, I can overthink.
I used to be an utter nightmare for it. Now, I'm far happier and I've found that I overthink occasionally (hormones, tiredness) but it doesn't quite have the same impact. I'm a lot better at managing it as well - whether it's asking something directly or recognising why it is I am. Not acting on or indulging it. |

I'm an over thinker.
I'll often make comments and people will ask wtf I'm on about and I have to list the seven or more situations I've thought through before they understand why I'm asking about a problem that's definitely not needed to be thought about. Lol |

Past sometimes, but not really as what if.
More like to learn from mistakes,or accept I didn't have other options.
Future ones only the important decisions.
Family, job...etc.
Some point of my life I made bold moves without thinking at all.
Like had an 80% sexually based relationship with a 44 year old MILF when I was 22.
(Awesome times on and off for 10 years)
Inviting the 18 year old girl for a coffee when I was 39.
(Didn't work out, but colleagues were impressed I have the balls)
Mixed bag really.
Sometimes don't think at all, but sometimes overthinking it.

I'm absolutely an overthinker. I replay different scenarios in my head when certain situation happens, what I could've done differently, the best outcome, the worst outcome, what decisions can lead to certain outcomes in my head and then when doing an action thinking it'll make things better, realising that I probably just made it worse by going with the choice I thought was right in my head instead of going for something different.
When something happens, I can really fixate on it for weeks and it can genuinely get exhausting without a proper outlet to help me forget or move on. |

Oh no, that isn't good... Ruminating doesn't resolve anything ... If you can't change the outcome and you've got your takeaway of what you might do differently next time, then it's time to move on and let it go!
Happy to share some tips via chat if you are interested |

Learning to try to not have regrets worked for me dealing with my past, and anything I can’t change. Ou just learn from it, and grow to make better decisions in the future, …
I over think about now, and what’s going to happen, what ifs etc. (and again, I’ve got ways I deal with that)
Try to let things go, don’t look back, that’s where you’ve been, not where you’re going!! |

Depends with me. If I'm on a low I over think the future.
If I'm OK then I just think fuck it.
I never dwell on the past apart from good memories
. I've learnt by my mistakes no need to go back there |

"I'd love to not overthink
I constantly try tatics to not do it
It's all I've ever known, I've always assumed that's what everyone's brain does
Oh well, onwards

Do you suffer with anxiety?
Just that I have found I do and was diagnosed with anxiety.
Since I try to do more mindfulness less thinking and more focusing upon every day life |

I often overthink , and like many overthinkers on here have mentioned wish I didn't
BUT
Then when I consider how much time I give others helping them because the had not thought through what they were doing makes me wish they had overthought
One of my most used phrases is
"why didn't you just think ?" |

No I try not to overthink things. A decision has to be made so weigh up the options and decide.
I have made some terrible decisions in the past both financially and personally. No point in stressing about them, I did what I thought was right at the time. I don’t regret those decisions, I am where I am and just keep moving forward. |

I read a post about overthinking once and I thought why are they asking this, is it necessary, what if I’m busy and can’t respond in a timely manner, and what if I make a typo and write something really embarrassing when I really meant something quite innocuous and who uses the word innocuous anyway other than people trying yo sound clever and does that mean I’m clever or just trying to sound clever and
Anyway I didn’t pay the post much attention. |

Not anymore. I used to be. But after my breakdown I learned the art of mindfulness. I live in the moment now |

Oh lord yes.
What's helped me is being more aware of when I'm doing it. Often voicing it helps. I know my triggers - when I'm tired, ill, premenstrual, overly busy - and am better at identifying it and rolling with it, knowing it won't last forever.
I do have a few historic situations which I rerun in my head, wishing I had done or said different things. But not very often.
It's closely linked to anxiety with me. Not really surprising.

What? What do you mean that if I imagine every single way that this work meeting can possibly go wrong, it won't save me from the floor opening and lions tearing me limb from limb? I thought it was necessary for my very survival! |
