Following on from my 'would you have sex with a clone of yourself?' thread.
Do any of the people that commented identify as Autosexual?
Does anyone else that didn't comment on it? Have you heard of the term?
Autosexuality is a sexual orientation where people are more sexually attracted to themselves than others.
Individuals may seek sexual arousal or stimulation through masturbation, fantasies, or sexual dreams, rather than sex or sexual thoughts involving another person.
For example, an autosexual person may feel aroused while looking at naked images of themselves rather than another individual.

Actually people do that ...I saw this thing on TV once....after about 5 mins of him talking to and then kissing his car I turned it off. This is one of the many reasons I don't watch TV much. |

I don't use porn or other stimulation, or even fantasise to wank, but I'm also not staring in to my own eyes in a mirror and getting horny from that. I'm not into myself like that.

Autosexual....I'll commit that word to memory. Next time I feel the urge to tell someone that they can go and fuck themselves, I'll be polite, and ask the them the question, "Do you consider yourself to be Autosexual?" 99% are not going to know the meaning, so I'll then explain in to them, and then tell them, "If you are autosexual then you can go and fuck yourself "

All sexual pleasure starts with the self. We tend to think otherwise as we are always looking outward and even more so due to magazines , and other visuals.
Autosexuality isn't narcissim one is sexual orientation and the other isn't.
As far as I'm concerned it's just another term that comes into the mainstream gaze and will be misused and applied endlessly in the wrong circumstances. |

so I’m confused what is it then? Is it just making yourself sexual aroused by touch, and you’re just turning yourself on. Which, don’t we all do?
Or is it when you look at yourself in the mirror and think phwoar! I’m fit and you get aroused by the image of yourself? And you think of yourself as more attractive than anyone else you know. as that’s how I read it the opening post.
Which would seem very vain to me.

Closer to your first idea and your second idea is vanity - you are right.
The bloke who first used the term autosexuality thought it was a sexual disorder. I'm not inclined to think it is but he's the authority on the subject.
It's generally nothing more than getting more sexual satisfaction by yourself or by thoughts of yourself than through the person you are with.
Regardless of what it is , if it's anything at all , the word will be further picked up and suddenly we will have a room full of autosexuals to go with the internet full of narcissists and neurodivergents..... etc etc |

Right, so now that makes sense, and explains how I read (just a thread the other day) too much porn, etc. or having trouble getting aroused when with someone, but okay when alone, Maybe its too much porn, maybe it’s the fact they know themselves more than a lover. Maybe it’s something else that could highlight this in oneself. *I’m just adding a thought.
