To be perfectly honest the vast majority of men can and do take no for an answer, it's the small minority of men that don't understand the concept...

Not a small enough minority unfortunatly!

Maybe it's just us, but most men requests we turn down take it really well and are polite in their response. Sometimes they take the piss in the chat room assuming that if Tor is on her own they'd be able to get her to agree to a one on one meeting. When I reply saying no thanks they back off politely.

Not had one rude or obnoxious response (yet)

I've been on here for nearly three years now and have had what must be thousands of messages in my inbox by now, but the men who can't take no or are offensive when turned down can probably be counted on the fingers of my two hands....

I really think that people (in general) who dont take no for an answer may... MAY have not learnt to accept other people's boundaries in life, that no actually means no. Perhaps this does go back to childhood, a message that it is ok to push and push...?

"Why can't men take no for an answer??????????"

well we are not generally programmed to be that way ,think of it like an encounter in a pub,a guy comes up with his best chat up lines, you do not go NO and then he walks away ,he comes up with another strategy to get around the NO .

Now this is not the pub and some guys have just not realized that yet ,it takes a bit of time to find that out.

A Persons right to say no must always stand no matter what, some women hit the block button with never a word replied.

which is the ultimate and most definite NO

I understand other people may think differently .

Its a shame because sometimes its nice to chat to people. He starts off well but then starts asking me to meet and wanting me to add him to friends. We met, it was good, but I don't want to meet again.

(She/ her) in Sensualityland

"I would be interested in knowing how to say 'no' so that someone understands I mean 'no'. I've told one guy that we will not be meeting again. Even told him why. And he's still messaging me trying to change my mind. I think in this case I would resort to a polite but firm "I have said no before, it remains a "no" and by trying to convince me otherwise you are alienating me and are likely to get blocked. Is this what you really want?"

Its a shame because sometimes its nice to chat to people. He starts off well but then starts asking me to meet and wanting me to add him to friends. We met, it was good, but I don't want to meet again. "

I understand what you are saying and I would agree some nice online friendships get wrecked in this way because parties have different expectations. Shame that is.

"Why can't men take no for an answer??????????"

In the main most PEOPLE can take no for an answer but there will always be some who don't. Admin in their infinite wisdom provided a button on profile pages and on messages entitled BLOCK. This wonderful button stops this problem, takes less time than reading and has miracle property. I personally struggle to see why people take 100 fold the effort to moan about people rather than use the miracle button provided by admin.
