Do you put any in cooking? Too much salt is not good for us (though apparently we need about 6g per day).Lots of stuff we buy already have plenty of salt in. I still use a very little amount in cooking otherwise things are too bland for me. I also like a bit of pepper too. Where do you stand? |

I used to cook with no salt, which I think has led to my eldest child over-salting her food now.
I use a little in my potato water to boil them and in recipes like stew, curries etc.
I rarely put salt on my food, excepting chips. |

Always season food properly.
I'd rather not eat that have crap food. Genuinely. Have and will refuse food on that basis.
Personally though, I up the daily salt intake quite alot as it helps my health. I have a couple of dysautonomia issues and salt quickly helps flare ups. I've been known to chew through salt tablets like smarties on bad days. I need a salt lick I think... |

"I like salt and use it a lot.
I try not to overdo it but not easy"
I tend to hold off on cooking and add it on my plate. My dad was the same and we both have thyroid problems and very low blood pressure. I wonder if that's got anything to do with it. |

There could be. Chat to the doctor. Ring tomorrow, will be connected on before xmas, you can leave your no and they will ring you back by Velentine's day and when you tell them what you need to ask they will suggest the triage nurse will call you back, certainly by Easter and when s/he does you will get your appointment by mid summer and will be able to put your mind at rest at least. Unless you need tests which should not really take that long.

A doctor actually advised me to use iodised salt, back in the days when you could see one . Neither dad not I are bothered he's had the condition for over 80 years and I've had it for 32. We'll carry on with the cruet set . He used to pour a pile of salt on the side of his plate and add it to his food willy nilly. My mum used to get so mad |

Oh hell yes. Tesco has far too many temptations. The more often you go in, the more often you pick up stuff you didn't go in for |

"I season my food well yet my partner still puts loads of salt on his food, without even tasting it. He calls it his "life support". "
My ears are burning!
I don't have anything savoury for breakfast, so that's one meal a day without salt. As for the rest of the day, yes I do enjoy my salt. I do have regular blood tests and my salt and sugar levels are on the lower side of healthy.
It's the healthy stuff that's bad for me...oats! |

If you looked at good blood pressure, and took a smidgeon off, that's where I am.
Which means I can bloody love salt and get away with it.
So I do.
On both.
So I do-do.
I'd better wipe it up now I guess....;-) |

My blood pressure is always on the low side so salt works well for me |

Don’t add salt by itself. But as a black man that cooks from scratch there’s quite a lot of salt in packaged seasoning. Do grow my own herbs (no not marijuana) to add to food and try to use less packaged ready mixed seasoning now I’ve been educated about the perils of salt a packaged foods. |

Yep you’ve usually healed or died by the time the GP gets around to ya nowadays.
As I haven’t yet passed away and don’t like to take medication unless absolutely necessary it seems to work well for me the worry over what as yet has been nothing.
But as I’m the boy who rarely cries wolf!!! It’s definitely made me think about getting a private healthcare plan. |

"I do add salt to my food if needed. My blood pressure is low and more salt actually helps with muscle cramps I can get."
The health police seem to forget that some people have this problem: bad journalism and all that. |
