No, this isn't a thread for the glory hole fans, this is a football thread...
Reading the football threads I noticed a fair few fans team didn't match their geographical location.
So who's you team and why?
Was it a player that attracted you to them? A shiny trophy cabinet or did you go down the route of wanting to support your local team?

Find a man who supports a shit team. If he can stay loyal to them through all of the shit, you're on to a winner. |

Southend United fan so not really a glory hunter as such but more of a shit hunter but born there and they are in my heart til I die.
Moved to France so started supporting my local team Là Berrichonne de Châteauroux who are now also shit but that’s real football for you.

I'm a Leeds fan since the early 70s.
My friends growing up were all Liverpool or Man utd supporters and they kept saying how much they hated Leeds so I started following them for that reason.
I knew very little about them at the time because I don't even live in the same country and we didn't have access to live games back then apart from the FA cup.
The first time I actually saw them play was the 1973 cup final which didn't go well at all but I've stuck with them through thick and thin. More thin than thick.
I've been to less than a dozen games in all that time mainly due to work schedule and cost but I'll never support a different team. |

Mr been a Wrexham fan since a little kid and Mrs has adopted them as her team too!!
Seen a lot of new fans since getting taken over, sure a lot are glory supporters and it’s now impossible to get a ticket but it’s still so nice to see! |

I'm a Man United fan and born in Derby (I know, I know!) I started supporting them in 2004 when I first got into football and just supported them because my older brother does so I'm palming the glory supporter stuff off onto him!  |

Palace through and through. Spent most of my young life in Coulsdon, moved to Croydon and now in darkest Surrey but on a direct train line to Selhurst Park. Never seen them win a major trophy and probably never will but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Unfortunately I think the whole Premier League is now marketed towards glory hunters around the world, those of us who actually turn up to matches are just there to provide a bit of atmosphere but otherwise greatly undervalued. |

Did any of you growing up have a "second" team? Like a few of my freinds who are Rangers supporters will support Chelsea and a lot of my Celtic freinds also support Liverpool/Manchester United. Plus there was always a few in school saying they were AC Milan, Barcelona etc. |

I support a conference (for now) side ... Tho wasn't born there and never had been there until my first home game.

I’ve supported Sunderland since I was 5 years old , never abandoned them despite the shambles they’ve been at times.
I started supporting them because mum did and we could get a charter bus from near where we lived direct to Roker Park and back on March days so many happy memories from those early days  |

I am a man united fan. So I get tarred with the glory hunter fan.
However I started supporting them before fergie's first title, no body could have anticipated the run they'd go on. And I'd spent a lot of time in Ireland as a kid and most were either United or Liverpool and my cousins got me into united.
I get the local community thing though but my parents are not from Birmingham so I wasn't passed down a local team and to be honest although I was born here I don't feel connected or proud t have been here, it's just where my parents moved to.
Back when I was young we had a man united club shop in town too because of the hallmark deal. And when I was in Dublin we had a club shop there too. |

It's the team my Dad was brought up with and he still lives nearby. He took me and my brother to that club as young children and it's always stuck. We're hardly glory supporters, down at the arse end of League Two! |

I loved that Mid-2000s Milan team. They were absolutely stacked and had maybe one of the best midfield combinations in football history. |

Have followed my local team Oldham Athletic from division 4 to the Prem and all the way back down to the National league .seen 3 promotions 4 relegations 1 wembley final 2 fa cup finals 2 spells in admin and nearly lost my club and i wouldnt of changed it for the world .otid owtb |

Football is a global market, whether you like it or not. Allegiances are not solely based on geographical attachment these days. Been a season ticket holder at OT for a long time and we have the day trippers and itinerants who come for the spectacle, not that there is much of that these days. |

No, the money is inconsequential. You can support a local team alongside a national team can you not? I was born in Wrexham....there are more reasons to support a team other than money |

Chelsea - Born Clapham, most of adult life in Fulham. We had one older family member who supported Fulham, but he was a tosser. So always going to be Chelsea, because we're a better type of tosser .
And Brighton - coz we moved a few short miles away when I was very ickle for many years.
Both are the local team. |

covered their folders in photos of pop stars mine was covered in Leeds players. I was lucky enough to meet my hero Tony Dorigo at Elland Road a few years ago and he is an absolute legend and lovely guy. We gave up our season tickets when my Dad got really ill before he passed away as we didn’t want to go without him. I try and get to games now when I can but it’s difficult working nights and weekends. I would never support any other team and our kids all support Leeds too even though Mr supports Liverpool. MOT

truly has been rebuilding has started under new local multimillionaire owner whos doing things the right way massive inprovmemts of the field new £1m hybrid pitch stands and suroundings sorted training facilitys upgraded much better matchday experience fan on the board .just need time to sort the team out and we will be back |

I played in the equivalent of a Sunday league team for one season in the mid 80s and gave that up for exactly the same reasons.
I went to one local game back in the 80s when George Best turned out for both sides, 45 min each and didn't go to another until the season before covid when I went to a handful and watched extremely poor quality football.
Following a "big" team was a way of escaping the tribalism. |

I get that...
My first game of footy was Portsmouth v Chelsea at Fratton Park.
Not a person in the ground cheering for Chelsea who lost 2 - 1 if I recall.
I felt sorry for them and I've supported/felt sorry for them ever since.
It was only years later I found out it was a testimonial game. Regardless, rooting for the underdog became my "way"

Born in Edinburgh and support Celtic, was my uncles team and that passion he had for the club passed down to me (so yeah guess im a glory hunter) that said most the family support celtic, madness though as moved to the borders a good few years back and nearly everyone here is Rangers. Got a wee soft spot for Liverpool aswell |

Been tae parkhead for a number games never managed tae get tickets to a Derby game unsurprisingly sods law on not having the money be a season ticket holder but if you asking what its like here we're I live now it's pretty crazy all pubs be full rangers fans |
