I've made beef stew and dumplings for my evening meal. Should I have boiled potatoes or mash to go with it?

Please give me your best advice.

I would make a large yorkshire pudding and put the stew and dumplings in that because i would already have put potatoes in the stew.

You could have shepherds/cottage pie.

Boiled potatoes tossed in butter and either pepper or parsley. Make plenty so you can slice them tomorrow and eat them between two slices of generously buttered bread. Salad cream is an optional but delicious addition to this.
